The Last day on Earth

A faster way there

They walk for many miles, getting more and more tired each minute. "How much farther?" Izzy asks, wanting to stop and take a break. "What do you think? We're walking through the whole country. It will take us days to get to the Indian Ocean." Ava says, knowing everyone is tired and herself as well, but they have no time to waste. Izzy groans. "We've been walking for hours!" Lucy complains. "You think I don't know that?" Ava asks, sarcastically.
Ava gives them the side eye. "Just stop Ava!" Rachel snaps. Ava looks at Rachel shocked, but angry. "Well, I never wanted this! I'm tired of this whole world ending situation! I want to go home and live my life but no, I'm stuck here in Pakistan with all of you! Fuck this!" Ava shouts out of anger. She stops to catch her breath and they all stop to look at her in shock. "Watch your language!" Rachel says, sternly. "You're not my mom!" Ava shouts.  "Well, mom's dead!" Rachel shouts. Izzy and Lucy just freeze. Tears fill Ava's eyes. "Look, I'm sorry, I didn't mean it!" Rachel says, trying to take back what she said. "Why would you say that?" Ava asks, starting to cry. Ava runs away from the group. "Ava!" Rachel shouts. "You should probably go check on her." Lucy says. Rachel sighs and looks at the ground. "Yeah."
Rachel walks over to Ava who is now sitting on the side of the road, curled up in a ball with Scar laying next to her. Rachel sits down next to Ava. "I'm sorry, Ava. It just slipped out." Rachel says, shamed. Ava sniffles. "I mean, I know this all sucks. But, you're just a kid." Rachel says. "I know." Ava says. Rachel gives Ava a side hug and then stands up. "Are you ready to continue?" Rachel asks, holding out her hand to Ava. Ava looks up at Rachel with tears on her face. Ava wipes her face off with her arm and takes Rachel's hand. "Yeah." Ava says, getting off of the ground. Izzy and Lucy catch up to them. "Is everything good now?" Izzy asks. Ava nods.
The sun starts peeking out from the ground, starting to light up some of the land. "Oh no!" Ava says, looking at the sun. They all stop walking for a second. "Run!" Rachel shouts as they all start running to the nearby town up ahead. They all race against the sun. They get to the buildings and look around to find one to stay in. "Everyone go into the car dealership!" Ava shouts, running to the door. They all run inside the store and close the blinds inside.
They all stop to catch their breath. "Is everyone here?" Ava asks, looking around at everyone. "Lucy, Izzy, Scar. Rachel, me." Ava says, under her breath. "Okay, everyone's here!" Ava says, now starting to slowly look around at the store. "Everyone look around. We can get a car here so we don't have to walk anymore." Rachel says, following Ava's eyes. "Good idea." Izzy agrees.
They all look around the store for a few minutes, finding many cars, but not the right ones. "Everyone come here!" Izzy shouts to the entire store so everyone could hear her. They all rushed over to the place where they heard her voice. "What?" Rachel asks over all the commotion. "I found a S2 Kinetic G 1,000!" Izzy shouts. "A what?" Ava asks, confused. "Basicly the fastest car ever made." Izzy says. "Oh, so you're a car guinness, huh?" Rachel asks, going over to the car doors and opening it.
Ava just stares at the dark blue car with a white stripe going down the middle. It looked exactly like a race car. Rachel opens the door not knowing what to expect. The door comes up instead of out. "It's a nice car. How fast does it go?" Rachel asks. "About six hundred, fifty miles per hour." Izzy answers. "Wow!" Ava says, going to the other side of the car and looking in through the tinted windows. She couldn't see the inside, only darkness. "It's perfect!" Ava says. "I know right!" Izzy says. "But, how would Scar fit with us?" Ava asks, frowning. "I mean, we could take two cars! One for me and Izzy, and one for you, Scar, and Rachel!" Lucy says. "That could work!" Rachel says, looking at Ava. "Okay, but we can't leave now. The Sun just came up so we would die." Ava says, looking for the same type of car but for her, Rachel, and Scar. Rachel and Scar follow Ava and they find another car but red with a black stripe. "We just have to always stay close to each other while driving." Ava says. "Yeah, it'd be bad if we got split up." Lucy says, thinking of what would happen if they got lost.
A few hours go by and they have no idea what to do. Lucy and Izzy have started a staring contest so they have something to do. Ava and Rachel find a tire unattached to a car so they decide to roll it back and forth with Scar chasing it as it rolls. Ava laughs happily as she watches her bear being playful, Scar finally catches up to the tire and pounces on it. He starts biting it like a chew toy for a bear. Ava giggles and walks over to Scar. She kneels down next to Scar and starts petting his long brown fur. "Good boy!" Ava says to him as he starts to make bite marks in the tire. Ava stands up smiling and looks at Rachel. "I forgot to ask. How's your eye?" Rachel asks Ava. "Oh, I don't know. It doesn't hurt anymore!" Ava says, gladly. "Can I see it?" Rachel asks, looking at her eye patch. "Yeah, give me a second." Ava says, grabbing the bottom of the jean patch and lifting it off her head. There are three straight lines cut into her skin where the cougar clawed her. The color of her eye where the scar is, is now a grey-ish white color. She now had two different colored eyes, one white, one brown. "It's getting better. Cover your good-eye, can you still see?" Rachel asks to test Ava. Ava covers her normal eye and keeps her other eye open. Everything was blurry when looking around. "Everything's blurry." Ava says, looking around. She uncovers her eye and looks at Rachel again. "Wait, what?" Lucy asks, walking over to them. Ava turns around and looks at Lucy. "Oh my god! Ava, your eye!" Lucy shouts in shock. "Yeah." Ava says. Izzy walks to them to see what's happening. Izzy looks at Ava and sees her eye. "Oh wow! You look really cool with that scar, Ava!" Izzy says, admiring her scar. "Thanks?" Ava says, not knowing how to respond.
Ava stretches out the thread on the eye patch and puts it back on, covering the scar and her eye. Scar stops biting the tire and yawns. He lays down and closes his eyes. "We should get some sleep while we can." Ava says, looking at her tired beast. "Yeah, I'm sure we're all tired from walking for hours without stopping." Rachel says, sitting down on the floor. "Okay, but where would we sleep?" Izzy asks. "Is the floor that bad to sleep on, your majesty?" Ava asks sarcastically, starting to get on the ground. Ava smiles and lays down on the ground. "No, I may be British but I'm not the queen of England!" Izzy says, starting to lay down. Lucy laughs. "Shut up!" Izzy says, hitting Lucy playfully on her leg. They all lay down and fall asleep, glad to get rest. It was the best relief to get to go to sleep after walking so many miles at a time, but it would have been better if they were on beds and not a concrete floor.
