Hours later, everyone wakes up and meets back in the small living room. "We should head out." Lucy says, walking to the door. "Good idea, we should take some things from the house while we're still here." Ava says, walking into the kitchen which is right across from the living room. "Right." Lucy says, walking back to the living room and into the kitchen. Everyone starts looking in the cabinets and shelves for any food or water left behind. Everyone enters the kitchen to look as Ava finds a few water bottles hidden in the pantry. Everyone finds a few bags of snacks and a few more water bottles to last them for a few more days. "We should ration this so it will last us longer." Rachel says. "Right, everyone put the things you have in my bag." Ava says, taking her bag off of her shoulder and opening it to them. Everyone disposes the items into her bag making it almost overflow. Ava closes her bag and swings it around her shoulder. The bag was now heavier than before, but it wasn't a problem for Ava. "Now we should go." Izzy says, pointing to the front door. "Yes, come on!" Lucy says, agreeing and running to the door.
They all walk out the door and leave the house out into the dark neighborhood, lit up with an eerie light from the bright moon. "I used to love the sight of planets, but this is absurd." Ava says, staring blankly at the moon. "Huh." Izzy says, not knowing Ava liked space.
They all start walking not knowing what to expect anymore with hope to get to the Indian ocean soon. After a while, they come across an aircraft hanger and decide to take a short break. "I'm guessing that nobody is a pilot." Ava says, out of breath. "Well, I was a long time ago actually." Lucy says. "Wow, really?" Rachel asks. "Yeah..." Lucy says, getting closer to Rachel's face. "That's kind of hot." Rachel says, smirking. They both lean in as their eyes slowly close. "Hey lovebirds, why don't one of you fly us out of here to where we need to be?" Ava says, stopping their kiss. They both pull away and look bashfully at Ava and Izzy. "Okay, uh...yeah, right." Rachel says, fidgeting with her hands. "Yeah, sorry." Lucy says, looking around at the aircraft. She spots a helicopter and runs towards it. "Guys, over here!" Lucy shouts. Izzy, Ava, and Rachel run to Lucy and look up at the huge white helicopter with a blue stripe going across it. "I hope I can still do this." Lucy mutters to herself while climbing into the helicopter. "What was that?" Ava asks, following her inside. "Oh, nothing!" Lucy says, looking back at her, smiling nervously. Ava shrugs and gets into the helicopter.
They all go into the helicopter and get strapped in with Lucy and Izzy in the front and Ava and Rachel in the back. They all put on headphones and put down the microphones so they could talk to each other.
Lucy starts flicking small switches up and pressing buttons to get the helicopter going. The blades start spinning as Lucy grabs the joystick. "Everyone ready?" Lucy asks, with a radio tone in her voice. "Yeah!" Rachel says as Ava just nods while smiling. "Okay then!" Lucy says, bringing the joystick forward, lifting the helicopter off of the ground and making it hover. The helicopter flies up farther away from the ground and crashes through the ceiling making a large whole through the roof. "I can still do it!" Lucy shouts. "Wait, what?" Rachel asks. "You weren't sure if you could actually fly this thing?" Ava asks, concerned. "Well..." Lucy says. "You know what, it's fine. You did good and that's all that matters." Ava says, losing interest and not wanting to be a jerk. "Thanks!" Lucy says. Ava smiles and looks out of the window to see all of the burned buildings wondering what it would be like if things were still normal.
They fly into the beautiful night sky above the wasteland, getting closer to their destination. "Who thought the end of the world would be so beautiful?" Izzy says, with the moon reflecting brightly in her eyes. "Yeah, but if I had to choose, none of this would have happened." Ava says, sarcastically. "You know I think you would be a glass half empty kind of person, Ava." Izzy says, holding in a laugh. "Really funny, Izzy. Really funny." Ava responds, sarcastically. "At least it's warm." Rachel says, trying to lighten the mood. "Yeah, in Russia it's freezing to death, here it's melting your skin off." Ava responds, with a forced laugh. She holds her arm up to look at the burned spots she had gotten from the sun. "I never thought I would live through the apocalypse." Lucy says. "Yeah." Ava says, sadly.
"So, did you guys have any other family before all this?" Rachel asks. "I had a sister." Lucy says, holding back tears so she won't crash. "Lilly." Lucy says. "Oh, I'm sorry." Ava says. "For what?" Lucy asks, with her eyes watering. "Well, I'm guessing she isn't around anymore." Ava says, looking at Rachel. "Oh, yeah." Lucy says, remembering that everybody's dead. "What about you Izzy?" Ava asks. "Oh, just parents, grandparents, things like that." Izzy responds.
Hours go by of talking and flying across Pakistan, it had been at least somewhere around seven hours in the sky. Lucy looks at the fuel tank on the helicopter to see that it's very low. She sighs. "We're going to have to land here. The fuel's too low to keep going." Lucy says, bringing the joystick down, lowering the helicopter. Everyone but Lucy grabs their seat as the helicopter gently lands on the ground. Everyone lets go of their seats and gets out of the helicopter one by one back onto the ground again. "Where are we?" Izzy asks as they all look around. "Shhh." Ava says, hearing something in the distance. Everyone goes silent to listen to the nearby sounds. "Is it another animal?" Lucy asks, scared. "No, be quiet." Ava says, trying to focus. Ava listens as hard as she could to finally recognize the sound of water crashing against a shore. "We're here, the Indian ocean!" Ava shouts, running toward the noise. "Wait, Ava!" Rachel calls, running after her. They all chase each other until they see the ocean with huge waves and wet sandy ground. "The moon must be affecting the tide!" Ava says, staring at the huge waves crashing against the shore. "This won't end well." Lucy says. "No, but we have to try." Rachel says. Izzy looks around at her surroundings to find a surprisingly large boat shop. "Hey guys, we should go look in there!" Izzy says, pointing at the shop behind them. "Oh, that'll be great!" Ava says, running to the shop. "Let's go!" Lucy says, running after her.
They get to the boat shop and stand at the entrance looking at the boats and decorations. There were fishnets, huge boats, and other beach supplies like fishing rods, sun screen, towels, and more. "We should probably stay here and leave when the night starts again." Ava says. "Good idea." Lucy says.
They enter the store and walk around looking for a boat they can use to get across the Indian ocean. "Everyone look for a good sized boat with a roof and lower deck area inside." Ava says, not finding anything. "Okay." Izzy says, now knowing what to look for.
After a few minutes of looking around, the sun comes up and Ava finds a perfect boat! It was light grey and very shiny. It was made of mostly metal from the outside and would be perfect for the rough sea. The floors and inside walls were wood, but it wasn't a problem. "Hey guys over here!" Ava shouts through the store. Izzy, Lucy, and Rachel come running to Ava. "I think this will work." Ava says, looking up at the boat. "Okay, great, but how are we going to get it out of here?" Rachel asks. "I don't know, there has to be some sort of machine around here." Ava says, looking around the room not seeing anything. "Alright, you stay here while we find something." Izzy says, leaving them to find the machine. "I'll explore the boat, you guys go." Ava says, starting to look for an entrance to the boat. "See you later." Lucy says, grabbing Rachel's hand and pulling her to another spot in the store.
Ava walks around the other side of the boat and finds a door pretty high up. "Ugh, you've got to be kidding me!" Ava shouts, looking up at the door. Ava looks around to find a ladder leaning against the wall not too far away. "That'll work." Ava says, walking to the ladder. She takes it off of the wall and carries it uncomfortably to the boat. Ava places it against the boat and unfolds it so she can climb up it. She walks up the ladder while gripping the sides tightly so she won't fall. She reaches the top and opens the door, almost losing her balance. She walks inside and looks around to see a table with stools surrounding it and cabinets on the walls. The downstairs floor was a grey, rough carpet that stopped at the stairs. It was a dark brown wood covering the walls and furniture with a circular light on the ceiling. Ava finds a light switch on the wall next to the door and flicks the light on. The room lights up with a yellow tint, giving it life. There was now another door and upstairs to explore. Ava decides to open the other door on the left side of the room. She had wanted to see the downstairs before going up so she wouldn't forget about it.
The next room was the kitchen, there was no tile but many more cabinets and drawers. There was also a small metal sink right next to the stove and there was an island in the middle of the room with white granite. There was only one more door. Ava opens the door and walks into the storage room. There were many wood shelves and big drawers sitting on the floor. "Wow, there's so much room on this ship." Ava says to herself.
She goes back through all of the doors and up the stairs to a trap door leading to the upper area. She opens the trap door and climbs up to the bedroom with two bunk beds on both sides of the room. There was another door in the middle. Ava goes through the door to a small area with two doors on each side, one in front, and the one behind her she just came out of. She opens the two doors on the sides and looks inside both of them to find a closet and the bathroom. She closes the doors and opens the next one leading to the main area of the ship. "I wonder if they've found anything yet." Ava thinks to herself. She walks around the ship and looks up to see two big white sheets hanging from two huge pillars. "Wow, those are some huge sails," Ava mutters to herself.
She continues to find the back of the ship. She turns around to find that there were stairs behind her. "Oh!" Ava says, feeling stupid that she hadn't seen them before. She runs back to where she was and walks up the stairs to find the wheel and controls of the ship with many buttons. Then, she hears a beeping sound, like a pickup truck backing up. She turns to see it is a truck, a very large one. Lucy rolls down the window and sticks her head out. "Will this work?" Lucy shouts. "It's perfect!" Ava shouts back. "Okay, good!" Lucy says, rolling the window back up. Ava leaves the boat and they all start trying to find a way to get it onto the semi truck.
