They continue walking as they reach the halfway point in Pakistan.
Ava has talked to no one for about an hour and everyone seems concerned for her. "Should we check on her?" Lucy whispers. "I think we should give her time." Rachel whispers back. "You guys do know I can hear you, right?" Ava asks, angrily. Everyone stops talking. The silence continues for a while until the Sun starts to come up. "Everyone hurry up. There's a small village nearby." Ava says, starting to speed walk. Everyone starts to pick up their speed and they get to the village right as the Sun starts burning the land. They go into an old-timey house and hide from the Sun before it kills them. Ava just sits on the floor leaning against the wall as her anger turns into sadness. Lucy notices Ava and sits next to her. "Do you wanna talk about it?" Lucy asks, feeling bad for her. Rachel frowns at Ava and leaves the room with Izzy. Ava looks at Lucy with sad eyes and then sighs. "Why not, we could die any time anyway." Ava says, giving in. "Scar was there to distract me from the loss of my parents. Now that I lost him I feel like I have nothing else to think about but their death." Ava says, wanting to cry. Lucy gives Ava a hug from the side for only a second. "Thanks for asking though. I used to think that I couldn't share my emotions." Ava says, feeling a little better. "Why would you ever think that?" Lucy asks, a little concerned. "I thought that no one would care so I never bothered." Ava says. "Well, I care!" Lucy says. "Really?" Ava asks, shocked. "Yes, you're my friend!" Lucy says, smiling brightly. Ava smiles, getting a warm feeling. Ava never had any other friend but her sister, so it felt nice when Lucy called her a friend. Lucy looks into the other room to see Rachel. "Well, I shared my secret. We could all die, so what's yours?" Ava asks. "Me? Uh..." Lucy says, looking back at Ava. "I like your sister." Lucy whispers. "Oh my god, really?" Ava whispers back in surprise. Lucy nods as they both start quietly laughing. "You should go for it!" Ava whispers. "What, no way!" Lucy says, scared to try it. "We might die anyway!" Ava says. "You only live once and this is the apocalypse!" Ava says, trying to convince her. "Okay, okay, I'll think about it!" Lucy says, finally giving in.
An hour goes by and everyone has done a tour of the tiny house and they have stolen some food and water from the kitchen to survive another day. They all are in the living room sitting on the couches and chairs talking. "So, were you guys in a relationship with anyone before any of this happened?" Ava asks, looking at Lucy. "Nope." Rachel says. "No." Izzy says. "I could never find the right person." Lucy says. "Wow, I feel like you would have been in a relationship, Izzy." Ava says. "Well, the more you know!" Izzy says. Lucy gives Ava a nervous look. Ava nods while smiling. Lucy gulps and then gets out of her seat. "Hey, Rachel. Can I talk to you alone for a second?" Lucy asks. "Sure?" Rachel says, getting a confused look. Ava makes eye contact with Lucy and winks at her. Lucy nervously smiles. The two leave the room and Ava and Izzy turn to each other. "So, did Lucy tell you?" Izzy asks. "She told you already?" Ava asks. "I'm her best friend! Of course she told me!" Izzy says, smiling. "This is so exciting!" Ava says, shaking her hands in the air to calm down. "I know right!" Izzy says.
In the other room, Lucy and Rachel go inside the hallway closet and close the door behind them. "So, what did you want to talk about-" Rachel asks, getting cut off by Lucy springing onto her and kissing her. Rachel falls onto the door and they wrap each other's arms around each other. They both close their eyes and then Lucy pulls away leaving Rachel in shock. "I am so sorry. I didn't-" Lucy says, getting cut off by Rachel wrapping her arms around Lucy and kissing her back. Rachel pulls away with them both blushing. "So, does this mean?..." Lucy asks. "Yes, I will be your girlfriend." Rachel says, grabbing Lucy's hand. They both leave the room and go back to the living room with Ava and Izzy. "So..." Ava and Izzy ask. "We're a thing now." Lucy says, still smiling. "Wait, you two were in on this?" Rachel asks, laughing a little. Ava and Izzy both nod. "Oh, you suck!" Rachel says, playfully. Everyone in the room starts laughing at Rachel's embarrassment.

There was lots of talking, laughing, and playing games for a few hours.
"So, you're telling me that you had five siblings?" Ava asks, surprised at this news. Lucy nods her head while smiling and leaning back in her chair. "Wow!-" Ava says, getting cut off by the phone ringing in the hallway. Ava goes silent as everyone else is still laughing and having a good time. "How's the phone ringing? Is there someone still out there somewhere?" Ava says in her mind while looking behind her at the phone. "I'll be right back." Ava says, slowly. She gets up and starts walking to the hallway. "Are you okay, Ava?" Izzy asks, getting a little concerned. Ava doesn't respond. She picks up the old-timey house phone from the 1970s and holds it to her ear. "Hello?" Ava asks, not knowing what to expect. "Oh Ava, honey!" A voice answers in a relieved tone. "Mom?" Ava asks, wanting to cry. "Yes, it's me! Where are you? We've been looking for you everywhere!" Her mother responds. "Ava, you're scaring us." Lucy says as Rachel gets out of her seat and walks to Ava. "Rachel, you won't believe it! Mom's on the phone!" Ava says, excitedly. "What, how?" Rachel says, confused and sad. She takes the phone out of Ava's hand and holds it to her ear only to hear nothing but a dial tone. "What are you talking about? No one's there." Rachel says, putting the phone down. "What do you mean? Then who was I talking to?" Ava asks, sadly. Rachel looks from Ava to Lucy and Izzy. "I think we need to do something or we might go insane." Rachel says. Izzy nods while Lucy just looks shocked. "How about we play a game before we leave in a few hours." Rachel says, trying to lighten the mood. "Yeah." Ava says, thinking that she could possibly be going crazy.
After an hour of talking, everyone decides it's best to get some sleep before they have to leave. They go into the bedrooms of the house and try their best to block out the sun from the windows. After shielding all the light from the outside, they go to sleep.
