It took hours of sweat, strength, and blood to load the boat onto the truck. The sun was just setting so they had to go. They get in the truck out of breath and drive to the huge door in the back of the store, slowly dodging the boats on display. Rachel gets out of the truck and pushes the top button next to the tall and wide metal door. The door starts opening with many irritating scratching sounds against the wall. Rachel gets back into the truck as the door has lifted only half way. The door opens all the way and they drive out onto the road. They drive down to the sand and get out of the truck as the last of the sun disappears from the sky. "We need to get closer to the water." Izzy says. "No, we need to get in the water." Rachel says. "Are you sure?" Lucy asks, not exactly trusting her. "I'm sure." Rachel says. Lucy nods and puts the truck back into drive.
She slowly takes her foot off of the pedal, moving the truck forward.
She drives the truck into the water as far as she can without submerging it. "That's good enough!" Rachel says, getting out of the truck and getting her clothes wet. Everyone else comes with her and climbs onto the back of the truck to get the boat.
They all start taking straps off of the sides, making it easier to get the boat off. "Hold on, I'll be right back!" Rachel says, turning her back to them and facing the water. She dives into the water and swims blindly to the driver's seat. The truck had been almost fully under the water. She gets in and gets a breath of air. She puts the truck into drive and swims out. She climbs back onto the platform soaking wet. The truck starts to slowly drive into the water. "Everyone get in!" Rachel says, running to find the door. Rachel finds the door and realizes she made a mistake. "Ava, come here!" Rachel shouts. Ava runs over to Rachel and stares at her not knowing what to do. "I need to lift you up to the door!" Rachel says, panicking. "Okay!" Ava says. Rachel connects her hands together and lowers them for Ava. Ava steps on Rachel's hands and she gets lifted up to the door. She opens the door and jumps in before her sister could lose balance. "Okay, who's next?" Rachel asks, trying to hurry. Izzy walks over to her and Rachel bends down. "Put your legs over my neck!" Rachel says, hastily. "Okay?" Izzy says, doing what she was told. Rachel stands up and grabs Izzy's legs, lifting her up to the door. The water was now up to their knees. Ava grabs Izzy's hand and lifts her into the boat. "Your turn, Lucy!" Rachel says.
Rachel and Lucy repeat what she did with Izzy and lift her into the boat.
The water was now to Rachel's waist. "Grab my hand!" Ava shouts, reaching out as far as she could to Rachel as Izzy and Lucy hold her so she won't fall out. Rachel jumps up and grabs Ava's hand. Ava uses her other hand to support Rachel's weight as Lucy and Izzy grab Ava and pull the sisters up into the boat before the water could reach them. Rachel gets her feet on the ground and then closes the door behind her. "I'll be back." Ava says, walking through the door to the left. She walks through the kitchen to the closet. She opens a drawer and finds a red colored towel. She brings it back to the rest of them and gives it to Rachel. "Thanks." Rachel says, catching her breath. "You're welcome. By the way, the kitchen and a closet is to the left. The bedroom and bathroom are upstairs. There is also another closet and the wheel to control the boat." Ava says. "Good to know." Izzy says. "Cool." Rachel says. "Now, I'm going to unload some things." Ava says, going back through the door into the kitchen. "Okay, I'll be upstairs." Rachel says, walking up the stairs. "I'm coming too!" Lucy says, following her. "Same." Izzy says, having nothing else to do.
Back in the kitchen, Ava opens her leather bag and pours out everything that she has onto the counter. She takes the food and puts it in the small pantry in the corner of the room. Then, she takes the water and puts it in the top cabinet above everything. She puts all of the medical supplies back in her bag just in case something were to happen and she would need it immediately. She sighs and leaves the kitchen to where she was before. She walks up the stairs to the bedroom and sits on the bottom bunk on the right side of the room. She takes off her eye patch and closes her good eye to see if she could see anything, but there was only darkness. It was no longer blurry, it was completely dark. She opens her eye again and puts her eye patch back on.
She was surprised that the boat wasn't in the air from the waves. The water was actually pretty calm that night, only a few big waves but nothing too bad.
As the night went on nothing much had happened. Ava had gone outside and talked to the rest of them for a while before going silent and staring out into the distance of dark water. "I'm just saying, if I fall, someone please save me. I still can't swim." Ava says, laughing nervously. "We know, and we won't just leave you to die." Rachel says, laughing a little. "Thanks." Ava says, knowing she might have a chance of survival.
The night seems to fly by and the burning light of day covers the land. "Everyone inside!" Ava shouts, running to the door. Everyone rushes inside to escape the burning sun. They go into the bedroom and close the door behind them. Ava looks at the door now seeing a sign. "All wood on the ship is flame proof." the sign read. "Oh, the ship is flame proof!" Ava says. "Nice!" Izzy says. "Great! Now's the time to get some rest." Rachel says, trying to keep herself awake. "Yeah, and I've thought of this for a while..." Izzy says. "What is it?" Ava asks, sitting down on her bunk. "We're kind of like vampires now." Izzy says, climbing to the upper side of the bunk Ava's on. Everyone stops to think for a second. "She's not wrong." Rachel says. "We sleep in the day, stay up all night, and we can't go into the sun or we'll die!" Izzy says. "That is true." Ava says, laughing. "I'm just saying!" Izzy says, laying down. "Huh." Lucy says, now thinking more about what Izzy said.
"I'll see you guys at night." Rachel says, laying down. She instantly falls asleep and everyone else gets comfortable, still thinking about what Izzy had said. They were all tired from getting the boat onto the truck the day before so it wouldn't be hard to fall asleep. As soon as everyone lays down on their beds they fall asleep, not having time to think of anything more but being vampires. It had reminded them all of a movie that had recently come out, it was pretty popular and they had all seen it. It made them think of their old lives when they were still with their families and they hadn't met each other, but they would never get it back.
