I don't know who this girl is, or well I know her name, but I only know she's a 'protector'. Which, by the way, what the fuck does that mean?

Somehow, out of some random convenience, she had my car keys and opened my car.

"How–wait, how did you get those?" I stammered, still processing what was going on.

Samuel turned to me. "Trust me Dylan," she looked up at the window and when I turned around I saw two figures this time, a red one, and a mauve one. "Get in the car." She opened the backseat door and threw me in before I could respond.

"Wait–" she slammed the door on me. Samuel got into the driver's seat and started my car up. "What's going on? What was that?"

"Those were Sins, like what I was telling you about. Clearly you don't pay attention." she sighed, driving away from my apartment.

I turned around to look back at it, and the figures in the window were gone. I gulped, "Samuel, they're not at the window anymore."

"Yeah I know. They know we've left so now they're chasing us."

"Wh-where are we going?" I turned back around, fully shaking.

That's when Samuel was silent. "Good question. I don't have the answer to that unfortunately."

I went silent. Could I really trust this girl?

"Yes, yes you should." her voice snapped me back.

"What? I–I didn't say anything.."

"Did you forget that I read minds? It's one of the powers I get since I'm a protector." I watched her smile in the rearview mirror.

Now I was fucking terrified.

"So, you can read my mind at any point?"

"Not necessarily, only when I choose to enter your mind. Don't worry, I'll only enter it if we're in near danger."

Ah great, just what I wanted to hear. It's not like we just left my apartment where we saw these odd looking creatures.

"Which, I may be in your head a bit longer as Tella and Rowan could be close."

"Tella and Rowan?"

"The Sins back at your apartment."

"Those were the Sins?!"

"Yep, trust me they're more violent once they know you're against them."

I was practically shaking at this point by now. Where the hell was I going to go and why should I trust Samuel. My heart is pounding and my mind is racing. I can't tell if Samuel is being serious or not.

Everything seems like a dream right now. I want to wake up from it right now. I know it's not real. So I close my eyes and imagine I'm back in Cubania. But the second I reopen them, I'm back in Gravestone, in my car, with Samuel driving.

This isn't a dream. It's really happening...
