Park Chaeyoung believes that perhaps it's true when they say that distance makes the heart grow fonder. Finally, she understands how her best friend Lalisa Manoban feels every time her boyfriend goes on work trips and why the younger woman always slept over and wanted her company when she was alone.

The thing is, Park Chaeyoung was perfectly content with being alone. She'd been single her entire life, and alone from a young age since her parents passed away.

Yet things have changed since meeting him.

Especially as he embarks on his one-month Europe tour, she can't help but miss him.

She found herself writing down stories she'd like to tell him in her phone notes, and sharing videos and voice notes whenever possible.

Sometimes, he didn't have time.

She didn't like it, but she knew that this month was the most important month for his team, and for their athletic career.

Despite her selfishness, she too wanted him to thrive.

If anyone deserved to be considered the world's greatest baseball player, it was him.

In the last few days, Park Chaeyoung had started getting closer to the other boys. It started off with a secret group chat that was made in preparation for her boyfriend's birthday (still a month away) but as they began talking, Kim Namjoon used it as an opportunity for two things:

1. Blackmail material: He sent embarrassing photos of her boyfriend to her, while the other members sent videos of him snoring loudly on the bus (she finds it cute)

2. To let her know when he's had a hard day

Park Chaeyoung is grateful to get a heads up. Sometimes, she's so excited to finally call only to see that he's evidently tired or stressed, and so she decides to save her stories for another time, and let him vent and sleep. In those calls, they'll spend it singing to each other, and he tells her that she has a voice of an angel.

She misses him a lot, so much that she even has a countdown on her phone.

Lalisa Manoban comes over tonight after a particularly long week. She brings two bottles of wine to celebrate the recent role she'd gotten as a main dancer for a big boy group. Park Chaeyoung informs her boyfriend that she might reply late because she's having quality time with her best friend, and he tells her to stay safe, drink water before sleeping and wish her congratulations on his behalf.

"I seriously still can't believe that you two are dating, my best friend and my favourite athlete," Lalisa Manoban explains as she begins pouring the wine into glasses as her best friend prepared a cheese board, "... and even just the fact that the timing was so perfect— Bambam was locked in another country, you happened to stay with me for the signing and getting pushed right in front of him. Seriously— a crazy coincidence."

"We joke that it's fate," Park Chaeyoung sheepishly exclaims, her cheeks blushing from the thought about the way the pair got together, "... we both weren't interested in dating, but it was love at first sight for him and well— the fact I caught him in Japan? I couldn't help but believe..."

Lalisa Manoban wraps her arms around her,  "... I'm so happy for you, he's such a good guy too. More importantly— you're a perfect woman, you deserve love too."

The pair spend the rest of the night gossiping in bed, enjoying their wine a little too much (a little spilled on the blanket but she was too tipsy to care) and with cracker crumbs all over the floor.

When Park Chaeyoung wakes up, she checks her phone to see a lot of text messages

When Park Chaeyoung wakes up, she checks her phone to see a lot of text messages. The minute she reads through, she regrets allowing Lalisa Manoban the chance to feed her an entire bottle of wine. She yells against her pillow before playfully hitting her best friend.

"You!" She nags, "... you know I'm bad with alcohol!"

Lalisa Manoban giggles before shrugging, looking through the texts, "... it's okay Chaeyoung, show your cute side. Jungkook seems to like it."

Meanwhile, Park Chaeyoung wonders how she'll be able to face her boyfriend over video call knowing everything that happened.

The distance was harder than he'd imagined.

He thought it wouldn't be too bad, given that he'd been single his entire life and was busy with his career, but it was bad. There were moments when he couldn't focus because he was worried about her, and times when he couldn't sleep because he was wondering whether he might accidentally miss her texts or call.

To be honest, Jeon Jungkook was a little upset when she told him that she wouldn't be calling him the previous night, but in retrospect, it was worth it. His girlfriend was too adorable when she was drunk on wine, he thinks.

Jeon Jungkook presses the video call function, noticing how it rings for longer than usual. He knows it's probably because she's internally freaking out about how to face him.

Eventually, she picks up, clad in one of his hoodies which he loves.

Her hair is in a high ponytail and her face still had makeup on. He thinks she probably hadn't had time to wash it off because she finished late.

"Hi," her voice is soft, a sheepish expression on her lips as she quickly winces at the memory, "... I'm really sorry about last night, please forget I said anything."

He can't help but smile, "... but you were so cute last night, darling."

His eyes watch as she pouts before falling down onto the couch taking a heavy breath, "... don't tease me!"

"Hmm, tease? You're the tease, something about you wanting to show me your arse and b—" he begins to comment.

"Jungkook I'm hanging up!" She threatens, her face completely red at this point.

"I'm kidding, but you were so cute. I can't believe my girlfriend can make my heart flutter from a zillion miles away," he tells her, "... long day?"

She nods, "... a rude client today."

"I'm sorry darling," he stays quiet, as she starts telling him the story.

He wishes he could be there to comfort her properly.

"But enough about me," she tells him, "... how was practice?"

He smiles, "... it was good, but my muscles feel sore. Jimin and I are going for massages in like— half an hour. You look tired, do you want to get ready for bed while I clean up my room and pack my bag?"

She nods.

Jeon Jungkook likes it.

He likes doing his everyday things while watching as she settles for bed, bringing her phone to the bathroom as she washes her face.

When she'd finished her entire routine, she put her phone against her bedside clock. He can see her snuggled against the blanket.

"By the way, I ordered flowers for Lisa. I sent them to her agency, please tell her to keep an eye out, they should be coming tomorrow morning," he informs her before zipping up his bag.

Park Chaeyoung nods before letting out a yawn, "... thank you, it's really sweet of you."

"You're tired, why don't you sleep? Goodnight, I miss you."

"Goodnight, I miss you so much."

Watching as she slowly drifts to sleep, he can't help but think too, that he really wishes he could be there to kiss her goodnight properly.
