Celton flew as fast as he could to Gohan's house, and when we arrived he practically collapsed to the ground. I picked him up and draped his arm over my shoulders as Gohan and his mother ran out to us.
"What happened?! I felt your energy from all the way in the city!" Gohan scolded, but his demeanor sure shifted as he realized Celton was hurt.
"Can you deal with whatever the hell you're on about later?! He's been stabbed!" I yelled at the boy
"What? Why didn't you deflect the attacks with your energy?!" He said.
"H-hard to do that when you don't know it's coming.." Celton said with difficulty.
"If you'll excuse me, I need to sew him up!" I told Gohan. The boy stopped me as I went to walk past him.
"Wait, I'll take care of him," he said defensively, but Celton held out his free arm to stop him.
"No, l-let her do it," he strained. Gohan looked shocked and honestly it seemed like there was something here I wasn't getting.
"Are you sure?" He asked Celton. The boy nodded to Gohan, who relented. He let me pass, and shot me a look that I couldn't quite understand before I went inside. Chi Chi set a needle, thread and lighter on the table as I set Celton on the couch. He started to open up his jacket and shirt as I sterilized the needle, but then I remembered what Gohan had said about deflecting things like this.
"Is this going to work?" I asked Celton.
"As long as I don't focus my energy, yes," he strained. I threaded the needle and then sat in Celton's lap as he leaned back a little. The needle worked like a charm, and I slowly worked to close up his chest in silence. My thoughts drifted to just minutes ago, and that incredible power Celton used. He saved my life... again. He's unbelievable... how can someone be so strong? Was that all Ki Control?
"Celton..." I said. His eyes locked with mine as I continued to close up his chest. "I... I don't know what to say."
"About what?" He asked.
"You saved me again," I said. "And it was just unreal."
"I couldn't let them hurt you," Celton mumbled. My heart pounded in my chest at his resolve to protect me. Was I really that important to him? I finished up Celton's chest, and slid off of his lap onto my knees so he could turn around and I could start on his back. I got the needle cleaned and ready again, but Celton seemed really hesitant about taking his his top completely off. I watched him take a deep breath, before letting the shirt and jacket fall away from him. I was left speechless as I realized that the fur belt he always wore was not in fact a belt?!
"You... you have a tail?!" I questioned. Celton looked back at me, as his tail unwrapped from his waist, proving that it was very much real.
"Claire... there's something you need to know," he mumbled.
"If it's that you have a tail, then I think I'm aware of that," I said, before starting to sew up his back wound.
"I'm... I'm not human. I'm not even from Earth," he said hesitantly. "I'm a Saiyan, a warrior race from a long destroyed planet. It's why I'm so proficient in Ki control, and it's what makes me so powerful." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. All this time, the boy I had been falling for was quite literally out of this world, not just figuratively. "My parents died on a dying world just after they sent me to this planet as a child. And ever since then I've been hiding that fact from the world." I finished up the work on Celton's back and let him turn around. I looked up to him, but he wouldn't look me in the eyes. He looked like he was ashamed about this. He's being so honest and vulnerable with me. I guess I should return the favor on that.
"I understand if you don't want to be with me anymore because of this," he mumbled. I took my hand and held it to his chin, making him look at me, and I could see the fear and worry in his eyes.
"If we're being honest, then I have something to tell you too," I told him. "That night you stayed at my house and I told you that my parents were going to be gone for a while, that's because my mother died after she gave birth to me, and my dad was killed in a car accident." Celton's eyes turned to a worry for me as opposed to himself. "I was put in an orphanage and eventually got adopted by some rich guy. I thought I'd get to have a family again, but he dumped me at that house with several million zeni, and then just left." I felt my tears well up a little as I remembered that day when that car burned away and I was left alone in that damn house. Celton raised a hand, and gently wiped away the single tear that fell down my face.
"He made sure I wouldn't starve or freeze, but that bastard deprived me of the family I wanted. So I cut myself off from others... at least until I hit high school... where I met you," I ended. Celton, seemed to lose any care he could have for his own sake, and all of his focus was on me.
"You're afraid of being alone," he mumbled. I simply nodded, before Celton wrapped me in a hug.
"I'll never let you be alone like that," he said to me. "Assuming you don't want to be with someone else." There was that worry again. I pulled back to look in his eyes again and just smiled. Celton turned his head away again, still worried and nervous.
"Human, Saiyan, monkey boy, what you are doesn't matter." I told him. "I love you for who you are." Celton was shocked, and then finally looked me in the eyes.
"What?" He said.
"I. Love. You. Celton." I repeated for him. He was so shocked at my declaration that he was struggling to process anything, and so I said to hell with words and resorted to actions. I grasped his face in my hands and laid my lips on his. I sat back in his lap as his hands came up to my back. Celton's lips then hungrily pressed back into mine, and his tail curled around my waist. The closeness we were sharing was better than everything else we had done.
"Claire—" Celton mumbled into our kiss.
"Just shut up and keep kissing me," I interrupted him. The aggression in my kiss slowly pushed him to lay on the couch, while I stayed in his lap. I'm not certain exactly how long we ended up making out that night, but I know that was the best sleep I'd ever had in my life.
