I was pumped to get to wherever this Time Chamber was, and I almost didn't want to change before we left. But, of course, Celton told me I had to change. He flew us over to my house, and I ran inside to change as fast as I could.
"Don't worry about putting an outfit together," he told me as I went into the house. While I didn't mind what he had said, I thought of another idea. I got changed quickly, and ran back outside. Celton stood by the fence, and was certainly shocked by my outfit.
"What?" Celton exclaimed. I shot him a smirk with my hands on my hips as he stared at me. I was wearing an almost identical outfit to him; black tank top, pants, and my usual boots. I even tied my hair up again since we would be working out, at least I think.
"Shouldn't a student dress like their master?" I said with a smile. Celton shot a smile back before walking over to me. "So, where is this Hyperbolic Time Chamber?"
"About 35,000 feet in the sky," he said. What?!
"I'm sorry, it's where?!" I exclaimed. Celton turned around and waved for me to hop on his back.
"Just trust me, and hang on tight," he said. I got on Celton's back, and in a moment, we were flying higher in the air than we had ever flown. He just keep going up and up, and I was really feeling lightheaded for a good stretch of the flight. But it soon started going away, and as I looked up in the distance, I could see a thin pillar holding up an enormous semicircle in the sky. The closer we got to the giant structure, the more the air felt like ground level again. Celton crested the top of the inverted dome, where there was some kind of temple at the other side of it.
"Where are we?" I asked, mesmerized by the surroundings.
"Welcome to the Lookout," he said. I looked over to the building and saw a short and very plump man with pitch black skin making his way towards us.
"Celton! It's been years young man, how have you been?" He greeted.
"It's been great Mr. Popo," he replied. "Where's Dende?"
"Hello Celton, you are doing well I presume?" Asked a green man about my height with antennae on his head. Another alien?! Celton looked over at me, clearly seeing my confusion.
"Claire, this is the guardian of earth and his attendant genie. They've been friends of mine for many years," he introduced them.
"Oh wow, you must be really strong if you're Earth's guardian," I assumed. Dende sort of giggled a little at my remark.
"I may be stronger than your average person on this planet, but I can assure you that Celton here is far and above me in terms of power," he said sort of sheepishly.
"Wait, really?" I asked, a little shocked.
"Indeed. Dende may be incredibly talented, but I can sense that even you are stronger than him young lady," said Mr. Popo. I gave a slight gasp at this revelation that someone labeled as the guardian of our planet wasn't even our strongest!
"On the topic of power though, I was wondering if Claire and I could use the Time Chamber for a day?" Celton asked. Dende looked over at me and sort of cocked his head to the side.
"Claire doesn't appear to be a Saiyan, is she?" Dende asked. I tried my best to look tough, flexing an arm and letting my power run wild.
"Nope, I'm human. No Saiyan DNA in me," I said boldly.
"Hm, I'm not certain if a human has been in the time chamber for that long," Dende said.
"It's only a day, how hard can that be?" I asked.
"Claire, the Hyperbolic Time Chamber isn't just a day of training," Celton said, a serious tone in his voice.
"Well, you haven't exactly told me what makes this room so special," I told him. I gave him a look to tell him that he's sort of dropping the ball, and Dende sighed as well.
"You didn't even tell her what the Time Chamber is?!" He asked, sort of exasperated. Celton held up his hands with a nervous smile to defend himself.
"Hey, I'm taking baby steps with this stuff! She only just found out that I'm not human last night!" He used as an excuse. Dende sighed again but was at least still smiling.
"Well, in short, the Hyperbolic Time Chamber is a massive space that has some very extreme conditions. A day out here in our world is one full year inside the Chamber," Dende explained.
"What?! How is that even possible?!" I exclaimed.
"I try not to dwell on its inner workings," Celton said. "But even though we'll be spending a year together in there, we won't be missing much of anything out here." The reality of the situation hit me like a truck. An entire year?! Alone?! With Celton!??? It felt like a dream to me. The borderline impossible idea of what we were doing paired with being by his side for it sent a chill up my spine and put butterflies in my stomach.
"I have no problem with you two using the Chamber," Dende confirmed for us. Celton got excited and was in a sort of fighting stance next to me.
"Alright! Thanks Dende, I promise not to make a mess of it like Vegeta did back during the Cell Games," Celton said. Wait, during the what?!
"What did you just say?" I asked him. Celton turned around and then acted as though there was something he'd forgotten to tell me.
"Oh, right. Well, you remember how you've been trying to prove it wasn't Hercule that killed Cell?" He elaborated.
"Yeah," I said, sort of piecing a puzzle together.
"You're right, it wasn't him," he said nonchalantly. "It was Gohan." Celton turned back to keep walking towards the main building, leaving me dumbfounded by what he had said.
"What?! There's no way! He would've only been like 10 years old at the time!" I tried to understand as I followed him.
"Technically he was 11!" He called back to me. I followed them all the way to a fairly big metal door, and aside from that it looked pretty normal. Celton set his hand on the door and then looked back to me.
"Brace yourself," Celton said to me, before slowly opening the door. Behind its confines was something I could've never imagined. As I passed through the blinding light I was awestruck by the sight before me. Inside was what seemed to be a large lounge area, which outside of was an endless white void.
"Oh my god," I mumbled as I walked out towards the void.
"Claire, wait!" Celton called out. No sooner did I step out of the lounge area was I pinned to the ground. I groaned out in pain as I tried to fight my way back to my feet, but it was futile. Celton ran over to me and picked me back up and pulled me into the lounge again.
"What the hell that?!" I gasped as my chest lightened again. Celton knelt in front of me with concern all over him.
"Outside the living area is the hostile environment. It's gravity is ten times that of Earth's and the weather will fluctuate wildly from frigid to burning in a matter of moments," he explained. I stared out into the white void again, really scared of what was to come. "I have a way for you to walk out there though."
"Are you sure?" I asked him. Celton stood up and slowly guided me over to the edge of the living area, and he stood just outside it. It was almost effortless for him, like he didn't even feel a difference?!
"Focus your energy throughout your body. Not all of it, just a little," he told me. I nodded, and let out just a bit of my power. My body felt warmer and i felt more energetic again. Celton slowly pulled me out into the void, where I was able to stand perfectly fine on my own now. I opened my eyes and looked around. The ground was as white as all our surroundings, and it did currently feel rather hot out here.
"Walk around for a moment, get a little used to the gravity," Celton said. I took some steps, strained and sluggish, but still, I managed to walk around. Celton practically flowed through the void, utterly flooring me with his ease. He was just so strong.
"Alright, now focus that energy solely in your feet," he said. I looked down and did exactly that. My feet glowed for a moment, but then returned to their boring non-lit up look. Celton took my hands and guided me back towards the living area. It certainly put me at ease with his hands in mine, and it felt like I could just fly up with that feeling. And then that's what happened. The moment I hit the steps my feet lifted from the ground as Celton held me so I wouldn't fly away. I started to laugh a little in glee as he guided me around with my legs far above us.
"Celton! I'm flying!" I cheered.
"Now send that energy throughout you to steady yourself," Celton said with a smile. I did as he said, balancing out while Celton flew up to me. We floated together at eye level for a long moment, his golden eyes encapsulating my full attention. I'm speechless. I'm flying in the air looking Celton in the eyes.
"How does it feel to fly on your own?" Celton asked me.
"It's incredible," I said. I slowly lowered my energy, and floated back down to the ground as I did. Celton followed me, and after finally learning to fly I was pumped to learn more.
"So what next?" Celton asked. "We've got a year to do all we can." I raised my arms and made a pair of fists with a smile.
     "Everything," is all I said.
