"Why did you reject me" Sokka asked his eyes puffy from crying.

Zuko paused, he was taken by surprise.

He didn't mean to hurt his mate he just didn't feel like he deserved him.

"I'm sorry Sokka I didn't mean to hurt you" Zuko said cupping his mates face.

Sokka wiped his tears with the back of his hand.

"You're hurting me right now" Sokka snickered. Zuko quickly put his hands to his sides.

"I'm sorry.. I should leave"
Zuko said turning away from Sokka.
"Stay with me, please" Sokka begged.

Zuko nodded slowly and walked towards the alpha.
"Can I have a hug?" Sokka asked.

Zuko nodded and wrapped his arms around the Alphas neck as Sokka wrapped his around his waist.

The two stayed there like that for a while until Sokka broke the silence.

"I'm excited to marry you, I'll make you happy, I'll treat you right, I'll show you what it's like to be loved."

"I want to open myself up to you, I want to love you and let you love me but I can't shake the feeling that I'm not good enough."

Zuko confessed. Sokka looked Zuko in the eyes and kissed him softly on the lips.

"Your perfect, you always have been. We will be alright"

Sokka said planting a kiss on Zukos forehead before pulling away.

"I need to go, I'll see you tomorrow morning, okay?"

Zuko nodded and watched as Sokka walked into the crowd.

Zuko stood there alone for a moment before deciding to head back to the palace.

He hadn't eaten anything all day and he needed to get some rest.

Zuko layed awake thinking about the days events.

He couldn't shake off the guilt from running away, his mate would've been heartbroken if he found out Zuko had truly rejected him.

He was still anxious about the wedding, but relieved that he spoke his mind to Sokka and opened up a bit more to him.

Zuko thought about his mate, he was kind, handsome and he truly loved Zuko even if Zuko couldn't return his feelings yet.

Running away from selfish and ungrateful.

Zuko closed his eyes and tried to go to sleep but he just couldn't. He had so much on his mind it was impossible to turn off.

He layed there completely still for hours.

Zuko then decided to get up and walk around the palace to clear his head.

He headed down the hallway and into the palace garden.

He walked towards the turtle duck pond remembering when he used to feed the turtle ducks with his mother.

Zuko looked around and then took off his shoes and socks, letting them fall to the ground. His feet touched the cold water.

He remembered how peaceful it was here, how safe he felt here.

"What are you doing?"
