A/N:

Picture above is indeed Papyrus as an Arctic Charr Siren!

---------------------------------

Papyrus had seen the human who helped him multiple times, they always frequented this area of the frozen sea for some odd reason! He couldn't complain though since it made it easier for him to give you part of his hunts as payment for saving his life! Here comes the hard part... to initiate a conversation with you! He could see you were alone above the clear ice, you were near a hole that he could emerge from, perfect!

Before Papyrus could swim upwards, Sans came swimming towards him, his face contorted in confusion. "Heya paps, you're not hungry or somethin"?" Sans asked as he looked at the fish in Papyrus's hold. "AH I AM SUFFICIENTLY FILLED! HOWEVER, I PLAN TO GIVE THIS FISH TO THE HUMAN UP ABOVE" At that Sans scowled, his older brother never trusted humans ever since their mother got captured by a human tool they called a net. He himself of course didn't hold any grudges, some humans did bad things but it doesn't make them evil! Sans looked up and recognized your form, even though the ice was slightly hazy because of the thickness of it, their eyesight tended to be better than a humans. "Paps, you don't need to do that... they will probably throw that fish away anyway, you know how ungrateful humans are" Papyrus sighed at his brother, he understood why he didn't like humans but you were clearly not a bad one and his brother was just being stubborn.

"THAT IS FINE BY ME, IT IS THE INTENTION OF MY ACTIONS THAT MATTERS! NYEHEHE" He said and swam up before Sans could say anything else, you were probably moving soon and he couldn't miss this opportunity to finally thank you! He emerged from the water, he saw you crouched down, your back to him. You probably hadn't heard him breaking the water... his species usually were quieter than when his brother emerged from water, when his older brother broke the water, it made loud and audible splashing sounds. "HELLO THERE HUMAN!" Papyrus exclaimed, to make sure you knew he was there, he didn't want to scare you after all. You flinched and fell onto your bottom, looking at him with a starstruck gaze. You quickly recovered however and you grabbed something out of your pockets and brought the weird tools towards your ears, however before you could, he spoke up. "PLEASE WAIT! I COME IN PEACE, I GIVE YOU MY WORD I WILL NOT USE MY GREAT VOICE AGAINST YOU!" You stopped your action and warily put the weird tools back into your pocket.

"Wait a minute, aren't you that Arctic Charr I saved a few days ago?" Your eyes widened in realization, so you knew his species name? Wowie! "I SURE AM! MY NAME IS PAPYRUS!" He introduced himself, holding one hand over his ribcage and puffing it out proudly. You smiled at that. "Papyrus is it? Nice to meet you? I'm Y/N" You greeted back, you were now sitting on the ice while facing him, probably to level yourself with him, so considerate. "WHAT A... UNIQUE SOUNDING HUMAN NAME!" He complimented or well tried to, he didn't know many humans or any at all because Sans avoided them like the plague. They laughed, hiding their mouth in their scarf, the small sounds coming from them made him joyful. "Thanks... so uh, why are you here? Not saying you can't but you probably shouldn't, other humans don't tend to uh... like seeing sirens around too much" Papyrus had spied a few other humans going this route but it was mostly you or you with other humans.

"DO NOT WORRY! I KNEW YOU WERE ALONE AND THAT IS WHY I CAME UP TO THE SURFACE AS TO WHY... I HAVE A GIFT FOR YOU!" At that your eyes glinted in curiosity, he brought the fish he had caught and laid it on top of the ice. "Oh, are you sure? I know food can be scarce in these wintery parts..." You hesitated to take it, not wanting him to go hungry. "I AM A PROFICIENT HUNTER! I NEVER GO HUNGRY!" He reassured but you were still hesitant, suddenly you stood up and took off the thing that was on your back, rummaging through it. "How about a trade instead?" A trade? But that rendered his gift giving useless! You looked through the thing some more and you mumbled all sorts of words he didn't understand but one caught his attention. "CHICKEN? WHAT IS THAT?" At that you looked up with a smile. "Caught your interest, has it? It's food we humans eat, though we cook it before eating" You took out a thing, you unwrapped it and scooted it towards him.
