Sans had been figuring out how he could prove that small little thing he threw was absolutely nothing to worry about, he had found a decent rock, the same size as that weird thing and wouldn't you know it... you were up above the ice, doing your silly human stuff he didn't understand. Soon though, he would reveal your vile lie that you had told his dear brother.
"What? Say that again? You want me back to the base? Fine just let me finish this" You groaned, someone at base had accidentally left something in the automated door so it stayed open and you were the closest so they called you on the radio. Guess your work had to be paused... You took off your winter helmet and goggles, sometimes they worked a little bit too well but you supposed that better than having constant brain freeze... heh brain freeze. You were about to turn your winter shoes into ice skates so you could get to base quickly and then as fast get back to work. Abruptly you heard an odd sound coming towards you, it was like high pitched swooshing. Before you could find out what that sound was, you felt an odd pressure hit your head, at the base of your neck and you felt yourself stumbling. Your vision was all blurry and your legs didn't cooperate with you anymore, you blacked out before you could feel the impact of the ice.
It was a bullseye yet again! Sans had managed to hit your head like last time but oddly enough, the rock didn't give out a sound when the rock had hit your head only when it fell on the ground did it make any sound and why were you shambling around? Obviously you would be smart enough to know where the rock had come from. Sans waited for you to notice him so he could see that expression on your face when you knew he had caught onto your lie but instead you put a hand on your head. Suddenly you dropped something on the icy ground, it looked familiar... you had worn that both times he had seen you on top of your head. You all of a sudden hit the ground with a thud... pfft, you were just acting. How clever and ultimately useless, he's a patient guy. He waited for you to get up.
He waited...
And waited...
Waited some more...
Well fuck, you weren't getting up at all. Panic began to sneak in, fuck fuck fuck. He had actually ended up hurting you with that rock but last time you were completely fine! His eyelights locking onto the fallen thing on the ground... that fucking thing had protected you hadn't it!? Fuuuck he was a complete and utter screw up. Why hadn't he waited til you put it back on!? Oh yeah because he was fucking stupid! What would he tell Papyrus!? "Oh yeah sorry but I might have murdered your newly acquired friend because I thought they were telling lies to you but you can get new ones right?" Yeah that would go over so well, ah shit his brother really liked you as well. Suddenly a buzz and a voice could be heard coming from where you laid deathly still.
"Hello? Y/N? Are you there? Have you arrived yet?" The static voice sounded but of course you didn't reply, not even flinching when it started up like the last time you did when he scared you to death by only being near you... Now you actually were dead and all because of him, his guilt and shame was swallowing him up. Why couldn't you just be like all the other humans!? Killing with no mercy! "Y/N answer us this minute or we will send out a rescue team to come get you" But you couldn't answer, he could see the blood coming from your head as you laid there stone cold. Sans couldn't move nor speak, his body was utterly paralyzed as his gaze was always on you.
Sans didn't know how long he had been emerging for but he recon it must have been a while seeing as multiple humans suddenly shouted. "I didn't-! It wasn't my intention to-! I didn't know humans were so weak!" His pleas fell on deaf ears as he saw the humans had already put something in their ears, they looked at him with unbridled rage. Multiple humans were at your side, shaking you and speaking to you but nothing woke you up. He expected the humans to act in rage and violence but they only stared at him as all of them shielded you away with their bodies as they talked to each other in weird hand gestures. They put you on something and then they dragged you away... wait! He hadn't apologized yet! They can't take you before he has the chance to! Some of his lower body emerged from the water and the humans panicked making them drag you faster away. He fully emerged from the frigid water, his entire lower body on land.
"Woah there big guy, we're just here to collect our friend, okay? If you're looking for food, we can give you everything we have so just let us pass with our injured friend" A human tried to placate him, they didn't wear any weird things in their ears unlike the other humans but he didn't care about that. "Are... they d-dead?" He simply asked, afraid of the answer he might get. The human was shocked by this but recovered and shook his head. "No they're hanging in there but if we don't get them to safety... they might" At that, his body slumped and he went back into the water, you were still alive after all that blood loss? He could strongly smell the scent now, it would surely attract other predators soon enough. Sans let the humans take you away, his worthless apology could wait... if you even survived. As he dove back down he could see there was still a pool of blood on the ice, not before long, multiple sirens had crowded the area, curious about the smell. Sans could now see why you had been so afraid when he gazed upon his fellow Sirens, all of their eyes were looking for where the delicious smell was coming from... luckily the other humans were probably long gone with you in tow.
"BROTHER? ARE YOU OKAY?" Sans saw his brother and the shame weighed his already heavy body down. "WHAT HAPPENED?" Heh, Papyrus instantly knew something was very wrong, no more lies should be told or else he might lose Papyrus entirely... Sans is not sure if his brother will even forgive after this, he hurt his precious friend after all. "I... gravely injured the human" Papyrus stopped all movement, he was unusually still, even his tails in the water completely stopped which wasn't normal. "I See... Sans Let's Not Discuss This Here, Many Eyes And Ears... Let's Get You To Our Den" Papyrus whispered and gently grabbed his hands, they both swam away from all of the prying eyes and ears from every curious Siren around.

"Sans, Tell Me What Happened" Papyrus softly demanded, holding his brother's hand in comfort. "I-I wanted to prove that they lied and... I took a small rock from the seabed, just as big as the tool they h-had" Sans was stuttering all over, which was very uncommon unless he was highly stressed. "And What Happened Next?" He knew fully well what might have transpired but he needed his older brother to say it, admit it to himself. "Turns out they were telling the truth, I thought they lied to you to make me look bad but... I'm the bad one" Papyrus quietly sighed, he should have known his brother was up to something when he saw him rummaging through the seabed when it wasn't even close to mating season yet.
"Sans, Like I Always Say, It's The Intention That Matters... Did You Want To Hurt Them?" Sans instantly shook his skull, of course he didn't want to hurt you that badly! Maybe rough house you but definitely not to the point of being in between life and death. When he asked his brother if they should drown you, he didn't mean it to the point of death... just to scare you away. "N-not to t-that point" He didn't deny he wanted to get violent but obviously he sees now what can of worms that had opened. "Did You Learn A Valuable Lesson?" His younger brother asked and he had indeed learned that maybe perhaps not all humans were bad... The humans who came to rescue you were oddly peaceful and even communicated with him. "I did..." Sans looked away but he didn't stutter this time, his brother's tail started to move like normal again.
"GREAT! NOW YOU CAN LOOK FOR AN APOLOGY GIFT TO GIVE THEM WHEN THEY HAVE RECOVERED!" Papyrus went back to his normal self and did Sans hear that right? An apology gift? What in the world could he give you that you even wanted? Humans had all these weird things that did all sorts of things so what could he give you that could compare? "Er- I'll uh look around" He scratched his neck bone, he'll give you a proper apology... for everything at least. Hopefully you survived so he could give it to you...
