You had woken up to blaring white lights assaulting your vision and this white noise in your ears whistled, what was that? And where the fuck were you? You could also hear something beeping steadily, was that a heart monitor? You tried to sit up but an excruciating pain in your head stopped you immediately and you groaned. "Y/N! You're awake! Any… pains other than your head? Any discomforts?" You heard the familiar voice of the doctor, resident doctor of the base. "Um my limbs and such are fine… but what is that white noise I'm hearing? You have changed the light bulbs right?" You joked with a pained smile, the doctor came up to you, putting his hands on the railings of the hospital bed with a frown.
"White noise? Like whooshing or something high pitched?" He carefully asked you and you nodded, if you focused on it, it got louder. "I was afraid of that… but it could have been worse" The doctor gave you a sympathetic smile, what did he mean!? "Wha-what happened?" Obviously something serious must have happened since the last memory you had were you out on your field patrol and now suddenly you wake up in the hospital wing. "We found you unconscious on the ice, we used your radio to find you and your head had gotten quite the hit… luckily enough it only grazed near your ear but the impact was pretty strong" Ah so a concussion then? How did your head get so smashed? The one time you remove your protective headgear and you get hit, typical. "Now about that white noise you're hearing, it is called tinnitus and it might go away in a few weeks or it could become chronic… welcome to the club!" The doctor awkwardly jokes, Tinnitus? Was that what they called ringing in the ears? That's… really unfortunate but nothing fatal at least.
"Club? We have a club?" You asked puzzled and the doctor chuckled softly. "We do now, tinnitus club members: me and you" Ah, so he had this condition too? At least you weren't alone in this. "Anyway, anything else that's bothering you?" You shook your head and instantly regretted your choice of action, you groaned yet again. "My stupidity" The doctor laughed. "Sorry, there's no cure for that" Heh, truer words have never been spoken. "Do you know the reason for my head injury?" You inquired and at that the doctor removed his hand from the bed's railing and brought it up to his chin in thought. "Not entirely, no icicles around nor anything of the like but we did see a large Orca Siren staring at you unblinkingly before we arrived, though he looked quite panicked when we tried to take you away… asked if you were dead" Ah, you can for sure guess who that was, so he had either seen what happened or caused it. Though you're not sure why he asked if you were dead if he actually did want you dead, to be sure you were indeed dead? Those were questions only he could answer for you… but did you want to even see him again? You shudder at the thought.
"Eh, he probably thought you were food, it's not uncommon that once in a while a human gets attacked around here, no casualties yet, but he didn't seem so keen to eat you, didn't even accept our food in exchange for your safety" You couldn't make heads or tails of this situation, did he want you dead or not!? What an indecisive shithead he was. "I see" You tried hiding your anger but clearly the doctor could tell you weren't happy. "I'll be right back, need to tell everyone you've awoken from your beauty sleep" He waved and left you alone with your thoughts… if that Orca ever shows his skull again, oh boy do you have a few choice words.

Unfortunately, you had been put on house arrest for a week, they needed to see if other symptoms were developing but to your luck, nothing else happened but the white noise in your ears stayed… the doctor did tell you it might still just go away on its own but you had your doubts. Finally you were back to your regular schedule and oh boy were you not used to the frigid cold anymore with how you had stayed inside a cozy and warm building for days. Your winter gear did keep you warm but you could still feel a slight temperature drop seep in.
To your glee, you still had your ice skating abilities despite your hearing situation. Hearing was essential to balancing and such so you were happy that the white noise was just that, noise. Suddenly you heard your name being shouted… very loudly and you turned your head to see a familiar Siren, ah Papyrus. You quickly changed direction and quickly stopped a few inches away from him. "Hello! It Has Been A While… Are You Okay?" His voice was unusually quiet, his long tail slowly going side to side. "Ahaha yeah, just ended up sick, I'm up on my feet now though" You reassured Papyrus with a made up lie, you were sure his brother had a part in your injury but then again, you didn't have every part of the story yet. Plus you're sure that your accidental snitching about the nail thing made his brother do what he did or so you think. "I… KNOW WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED, YOU DO NOT NEED TO COVER FOR MY STUPID BROTHER!" Ah, so he knew, cool since you didn't.
