Chapter 13: Bad News All Around

You've had so much fun during your time here but it is coming to a close… you had to soon explain to Sans and Papyrus you would leave soon. Which left you a bit depressed as you put your winter gear on, it felt heavier than usual. How would they take it? Probably like you, it would definitely make them sad which is why it pained you to tell them.

"Hey Y/N… how are you?" Lynn suddenly spoke from the doorway, looking at you with concern. He knew your time was almost up and you had to leave in about a month. You were excited to see your family again but… you would sorely miss Papyrus's enthusiasm for human puzzles and Sans's clingy nature, plus his amazing puns. "I don't know, sad mostly? I don't want to leave just yet but you know… not my decision" You sighed as you put on your helmet. "I'm sure you can reapply right? And then you'll be right back here! I just know it!" You sadly smiled, you could but there was no guarantee you would be applied here, Lynn was being very optimistic and it took like half a year for it to even get processed if not longer. "You know we don't control where we end up but thank you, Lynn" You spoke as you left for the exit, not noticing Lynn was about to say something but shut his mouth when you turned around to walk away.

You walked out with heavy steps… Now you have to tell them the bad news.

"SANS! COULD YOU STOP MAKING THOSE STONE ARCHITECTURES!?" Papyrus had noticed his brother moving stones meticulously and carefully around. "Huh? Oh sorry… I did it absentmindedly, my bad Paps" Sans said as he finally snapped back to reality… Papyrus knew why he was being like this, it was mating season after all and now that his brother had a mate in mind, his instinct took over to build a nest even though you clearly wouldn't be able to take residence in it since you couldn't be underwater.

"... IT IS ALRIGHT, SINCE YOU SEEM BACK TO NORMAL, IT WOULD BE THAT TIME A CERTAIN SOMEONE WOULD CROSS THE ICY WATERS, YES?" At that his brother slowly swirled in glee, making whistling sounds… Stars, he shouldn't have informed Sans about you with how he's acting but then again… It would bring you closer if his brother finally confessed to wanting to be your mate! Hopefully…

"You're right! I lost track of time! Thanks Paps, see ya later!" And before Papyrus could say anything else, Sans sped off to see you. His brother was unusually energetic and speedy!

"Sans… there you are, you seem to always appear when I need you too hehe… I have something to say" Sans had found you skulking about, he was a master at tracking you down by now with quick speed which was unusual for him to be, though when it came to you… he didn't want to be slow. Sans looked at you curiously, you wanted to tell him something? With that look on your face… he probably wouldn't like it.

"You do? Something wrong?" He wanted to know what was troubling you so much, rarely did you have that expression upon your face. "Yeah… it's uh… something very important that I tell you and Papyrus" Something in his soul caused him pain as it knew what you were about to say but… he didn't want to believe it, it would be fine. "Ah that serious huh? You're not dying are ya?" Sans disguised it as a light joke but he needed to know if you were healthy or not! He couldn't have you dying on him so soon after finally finding you…. his mate. "No! I'm perfectly fine, it's just… it's better I tell the both of you face to skull instead of having you relay the information back to Papyrus" Sans could only nod at that, he told you to wait for a moment as he got his brother… his soul getting quite heavy.

"SO WHAT DO YOU WANT TO TELL US?" Papyrus had been quite befuddled when he saw Sans coming back to the den so quickly, he thought he would spend hours with you not mere minutes but turns out you had requested his presence. Perhaps you wanted his permission to become his brother's mate? You already had it but he appreciated the gesture! "Okay here goes nothing…" You started and Papyrus was ready to congratulate the both of you for becoming mates, and at mating season no less. "I'm migrating with my pod soon which means I'll have to leave this place…" Papyrus didn't expect that as shock came over him as well as it did with his brother. "You Are Leaving…? That Is… Hmmm, I Don't Know What To Say" His voice got quieter, he really didn't see this coming.
