Chapter 18: Escape

Sans grumbled, something didn't feel right… The spot next to him felt cold… too cold, even with the cold frigid water they were in. He opened one eye socket and saw an empty spot… had you woken up? Heh, he would have loved to see that red blush on your cheek when you realized he had sneakily snuggled you close to himself when he caught you sleeping in his nest on your own volition. He sighed and got up, now where were you? He wanted to tease you about how you had oh so willingly scooted closer to him in your slumber. He swam towards the bedchamber where his brother usually slept, he probably was up by now though.

Or so he thought, Papyrus was snoozing away… that is odd. He nudged his brother awake and he woke up with a start. "BROTHER!? OH MY… I MUST HAVE OVERSLEPT IF YOU ARE AWAKE BEFORE ME!" At least his brother looked to be healthy and was just sleeping a bit more than usual. "Heh, who's the lazy bones now huh?" He teased and got a huff from Papyrus in turn. "Haha Very Funny… It Is Still You… HOW IS Y/N? I ASSUME THEY ARE AWAKE SINCE YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR NEST!" Sans sure wanted to know the answer to that question too, he hadn't seen you yet. "Dunno, they got up before me, such a bummer" He shrugged while smiling and swam towards where he would usually see you, Papyrus following close behind. He arrived to the part of the cave you would spend most of your time in but what he saw terrified him or lack off…

You were nowhere to be seen inside the cave, he shouted your name but no answer… a feral rumble came from his throat. You sneaky little thing… you had patiently waited till they let their guards down! "SANS! I CHECKED DEEPER INSIDE THE CAVE BUT NO ONE WAS THERE! THEY HAVE LEFT THE DEN…" Papyrus had checked since he was the faster one of them but of course you weren't there. "It seems my mate would like to play a round of tag… heh" He chuckled darkly, he knew where you would go… habits die hard after all and he had caught you gaze up towards the surface more than once in thought… like you were plotting something.

You have done it now, Snowball… no more playing nice.

You found a group of people, you could see their forms from the clear ice… or your eyesight had just gotten better with that transformation… No wonder Sans had found you so easily… you thought he just sensed your footsteps or something. You found a crack in the ice you could surface from and got your torso up above the ice… the ice cold air was… so refreshing! You accidentally let out a happy chirp, alerting the humans to your presence. They all immediately went for their ear protection, ah fuck no! "W-WAIT! I'm friendly! I'm human like you! Please! I need help!" When their eyes landed on your very naked human body… well it shocked the whole group. One member of the group bravely took off their protection and spoke. "How… how are you able to… survive that?" Oh yeah, they couldn't see the other half of your submerged body. 

"Don't be afraid… but I…" You said as you slowly shuffled yourself up on the icy ground, now your whole body on display. "Got turned into this and I need help" All of the humans backpedaled away from you but that was understandable. They all looked so confused, never had anyone seen a human Siren before or at least very few had. You did tower over all of them but not as much as Sans would, you had definitely gained some weight… you chuckled at that in your mind. "... I will call the headquarters" The human who was brave enough to remove their ear protection spoke and unhooked their radio from their belt. "Say my name is Y/N L/N… I used to work there…" They looked at you with skepticism but nodded. You shuffled more onto the ground but made sure you avoided getting too close to the group, you didn't want Sans to see you easily if he was nearby, you didn't want to risk anything. Especially when you were so close to getting help.

"Okay so we have this… human Siren? Says their name is Y/N L/N….. Oh? Are you sure…? You do know if we do that they will… uh huh okay, fine" You could only hear parts of the conversation and when the human put their radio back, they looked at you with a complex expression… Did it not go well? Guess option 3 was looking more and more the only way. "You're coming with us… but we have to sedate you" At that you reeled, sedate you? There was no need for that! Did they even have that on their persons? You were sure these people were researchers like you. "I will come willingly, no sedation needed" You were starting to get bad vibes and you slowly shuffled yourself closer and closer to the ice crack you had come from. "Look… just make this easy for me okay? You've put me in a tight spot so just… stay" They said as they grabbed something from their back… it was a… gun!? They were carrying guns now!? Had your disappearance warranted extra safety!? Fuck, you didn't think about that!
