A Pathway With Light Is Difficult To Travel

Renn's Pov

"Tippy."

I called out for the small elf.

She appeared instantaneously with a small pop.

"Yes Missus ?"

I observed her shy expression. I realized then that she probably heard the whole argument between Lucius and I.

I found myself wondering just how horribly she was treated at the manor.

Every time I was there before my parents passed for death eater meetings I hadn't really seen any house elves too often and the ones I did usually weren't Tippy. I assumed that was because she was bound to Lucius and not anyone else.

Judging from the way Lucius treated her in front of me I could only imagine what he was like without anyone around.

She really hates when the two of us fight and she always try's to take my side if she can. I think it's because she knows how vile Lucius can be sometimes.

"Can you please perform a detection charm to make sure everything is alright with the baby ?" I shakily asked while making my way towards the bed and trying to hide my tears. Once I reached it I took a deep breath before I sprawled out on my back across it.

She nodded her head. "Of course Miss Renn." She replied while proceeding to make her way over to the side of the bed that I was laying on.

I carefully lifted up my shirt over my tummy putting the small swell of my abdomen on display.

Tippy performed the spell and we both watched with loving eyes as little light appeared.

This time the light was bigger. About the size of a tomato to be more precise.

I turned my head from the baby to Tippy who appeared to have tears in her big green eyes as she watched the light with awe.

My heart melted at the tender moment. I was glad there was someone that cared for this baby that wasn't just me.

"Everything is alright Miss Renn. Baby is measuring perfectly for eleven weeks. Baby's heart beat is very strong also." My eyes welled up with tears like Tippy's as I listened to the beating heart of my little light.

"Thank you for this Tippy, that is all for now." I showed the tiny creature genuine appreciation as a small smile graced my lips when my eyes met hers while I rubbed a hand on my tummy in small circles.

"Miss Renn must eat though. She pushed herself a lot with Master outside." She pulled on her ears a bit while moving towards the door.

She looked back at me with a weary expression. Probably expecting to get yelled at but I wasn't Lucius.

"Okay Tippy, we did only practice one spell but you're right I need to eat. I'll have some apple scones and black tea if it's not too much trouble." I replied while bringing my attention back to little light.

I hardly heard Tippy leave the room or apparate back in with a tray of tea and sweets. I was too preoccupied with the happiness I was feeling that Lucius hadn't harmed little light.
