Renn's Pov

"What in the bloody hell is going on here ?"

Draco's voice startled me away from Lucius' reach.

"Miss Monroe is experiencing some bleeding Draco, I was just performing a detection charm with Tippy to ensure that no harm came to the baby when we apparated." Lucius spoke cooly with a stoic expression as I tried to keep the anxiousness I was feeling off of my face.

Lucius was so good at keeping calm and manipulating his way out of situations that even I almost believed what he was saying to Draco.

"Right well it didn't look like that." Draco drawled out while eyeing the two of us wearily.

"For Merlin's sake Draco, Tippy is right there what do you think we are all doing in the bathroom ? Do you want to come and look at the blood in the toilet ?!"

Draco immediately paled at Lucius' statement and a look of concern overcame his sharp features. "Are you alright Renn ?"

"I think so. That's what we were trying to determine before you barged in here like a banshee." I pointed out as if it wasn't the most obvious thing.

A look of malice crossed over Draco's face but it quickly vanished and he composed himself. "Fine.' He said dismissively before he turned to fully face Lucius. 'Father, can we complete the blood protection spell so I can just go to my chambers and actually have a good nights sleep on an actual mattress instead of an old, lumpy couch or the manors dungeon floor for the first time in weeks."

"Yes let us get this over with so we can all go and get some rest. I think we have all had enough excitement for one day." Lucius stated as he reached behind me until his cool palm was flat against my back; gently nudging me forward.

My thoughts were racing as we all made our way to the perimeter of the property. I could feel Lucius' steely eyes boring into the side of my face but I couldn't be bothered to pay attention to it.

I didn't want to be on bed rest, I wanted to learn occlumency and how to defend myself in case of another attack.

Although a plus side to the bed rest is I'll have plenty of time to read up on the serpentine charm. I know Lucius has that book hidden in his things and I will figure out a way to get access to it. Maybe the book will even help me figure out why this baby is so magically strong.

I was brought out of my thoughts when we finally reached the edge of the property, Lucius took out the same knife he used during our first blood ritual at the cottage.

"Both of you hold out your hands, palms upwards." He commanded as Draco and I followed his order.

He carefully sliced both of our palms causing the crimson to form a pool before he also cut his own.

Lucius said the spell and we all turned our hands over until the blood that was gathering in them landed on the blanket of white covering the ground.

Just like last time a green light appeared all along the outside of the property accompanied by a loud boom that shook the earth beneath us.

"There, it is complete, we should all be safe for a while at least." Lucius spoke while eyeing the wards around us.

"Yes, let us hope a simple blood protection spell is enough to fool the greatest dark wizard of all time-that has every dark creature out on the hunt for us." Draco mumbled under his breath as he started making his way back inside the flat.
