I groan as I fidget with the mic, not getting it to sit right. The bar opens in a few minutes, and tonight I'm the first singer. Which honestly sucks, that means I have to set up the stage. "You struggling?" Liz asks with a chuckle. "Shut up Liz, go switch the sign to open, it's 12." I say as I quickly check my watch. "How about you shut up?" Liz asks as she walks to the door and switches the closed sign to open.
In minutes the bar fills up. "Welcome to the midnight bar, where we are open from midnight to seven am! All you lonely, bored, or just looking to drink people, welcome welcome! Now, I present you with many songs to just keep you entertained. After I finish Miss Ivy Fang is going to be singing!" I say my introduction as I adjust the mic one last time. Within minutes I start singing, my eyes wandering across the crowd. There's this one woman sitting at the bar...she catches my attention.
Her demeanor and everything stuns me. She doesn't care one bit about anything and you can see it, the way she holds a cigarette between her middle and pointer finger even though we have a no smoking policy. She doesn't give one shit, honestly she looks high. But her eyes are also fixed on mine as I stare at her while singing, and I don't feel the urge to ever look away.
I finish my songs near two, and my eyes weren't drawn away from her this whole time. "Alright ya'll! Im finished for tonight, I will be at the bar, and I accept tips, or anything really!" I say with a chuckle as I quickly thud down the stage, excited to meet the woman I've been staring at. As soon as I walk out from the backstage stairs though, I look at the bar, and she's gone. I rush up to Liz quickly. "Whatcha need? You were great tonight by the way." Liz asks as she cleans a glass. I sit down at a stool as Ivy starts to sing. "Nothing right now, but Yknow that woman who was sitting here?" I ask as I point to the seat next to me. "Yeah, I didn't even try and bother her. She looked as if I would even say one word towards her she would snap and bite my head off." Liz says with a chuckle. "She's hot honestly, goddamn why did she leave....I hope she's here tomorrow." I say with a groan as I put my head in my hands. "Five shots please, then I'll be on my way. Don't worry, I'll take a taxi." I add on. Liz nods and hands me my shots.
I lay in my bed, the shots already wearing off. The only thing in my mind was that woman.
