I arrive at the beach Larry and Xandra are getting married at. It truly is such a beautiful sight, especially due to the near sunset that is approaching. I walk up next to my mom who is talking to a friend of hers in the crowd. "Mom, you look stunning!" I say with a smile as I look at her dress. I really am glad this was able to bring her out of her room for a bit. She's been so depressed recently, so this helps. "Thank you so much sweetie, you do too." She says with a smile as she stops the conversation with the friend. "I'm just so glad you're so happy." I say with a smile as I hug her. "Well, I've never been a bridesmaid, so I'm very happy to be one." My mom says. "The wedding will start soon, bridesmaids and groomsmen may get in their places!" We hear the preacher call. God I'm so nervous, I shouldn't feel this way about Xandra.
I stand next to my mom, fidgeting with my hands as Larry takes his place and everyone else does. God this is so nerve-racking. Soft music starts to play that I actually like and I see a slight peek of Xandra through the beach house. Before I know it the little flower girl, who is adorable, comes walking down the aisle. Xandra soon follows, linked in arms with her father, in a long white dress with flowers up near the corset, it shows her cleavage well, and fits her perfectly. It's utterly beautiful, and honestly I bet I'm red as a tomato right now. Xandra has the widest smile I've seen her show as she nears. She spares a glance across the bridesmaids and smiles at my mom and me with a very small nod, silently thanking us for being here.
The vows and everything went by quickly and before I knew it, I hear the words I've been dreading to hear. "Larry Terrel, do you take, Sandra Jaye, to be your lovely wedded wife?" The preacher asks. Hm, Sandra. I guess she goes by Xandra. Larry seems to hesitate as he looks at his groomsmen. "I do." He says as he stares Xandra in the eye, a tear falling down her cheek. "Sandra Jaye, do you take, Larry Terrel, to be your lovely wedded husband?" The preacher asks Xandra. "I do." Xandra says with no hesitation. Larry has a very very tiny smile on his lips, showing the tiniest bit of happiness. "You May kiss the bride." The preacher says with a smile as he looks at Larry. Larry nods and leans in and kisses Xandra. It's the most disgusting, vial, throw-up, thing I've ever seen.
Tears brim my eyes as everyone claps for them, including me. I look down at the ground, not daring to look up. Oh god, I'm breaking, I need to pull it together. I swallow down all my feelings and put on a smile as I look back up, tears still slightly brimming my eyes.
'I do' his monotone voice rings throughout my head, trying to tell me something that I'm ignoring greatly. Soon I realized the things I were ignoring greatly, the bruises on Xandra's wrists and some on her legs as he raises up her dress to take off the garter. The slight tear in Xandra's eyes as he did it, the tear falling down her cheek as she says she does, not what it looks like.
And the liar lying underneath his skin.
