(Long chapter!)

Tonight was one of my special nights, where I would do some singing maybe, but most the night I would take questions from the crowd. And I hoped so much she would ask a question, because then I might be able to figure out her name before she leaves.

"How do you feel about question night?" Liz asks with a chuckle from the bar. "I feel wonderful actually...I hope I am able to fit some singing in there because there's this song I really wanna do. But if I'm not able to do it tonight, we can just do it tomorrow." I say as I fix the mic stand, even though with question nights I usually just hold the mic, walking around the stage. "Hmmm what song?" Liz asks with a smirk as she looks down at my Olivia Rodrigo sour album shirt. "Yk, I Wonder." I say, rolling my eyes. "It could be jealousy, it could be deja vu, it could be anything from her sour album! But I know whatever band you have on your shirt, that's the band or album you're singing. Like last night you had on your classical nirvana shirt." Liz adds. "You got it." I say with a smile. "Ooh I know! Deja vu." Liz says, somehow knowing as she goes to flip the sign. "Yep big brain." I say with a roll of my eyes as Liz goes back to the bar and people quickly fill in.

"Alright alright! Wassup fellow people's." I start off once most people filed in. I spot her at the back and she chuckles at my words. "Tonight is a special night! You all oldies might know, but it's question night! Happens every Wednesday, cuz hump day. I will be taking questions from the crowd, if you have one, just raise your hand and I might call on you!" I announce loudly with a chuckle. Liz's hand quickly shoots up along with a decent bit of people. "Liz...what the fuck do you want?" I ask with a sigh. "I wanna know...if you are gay." Liz asks with a smirk. "Liz...good god what am I gonna do with you. Yes for the love of god, you've asked this question ten times today, yes yes I am gay, and no I'm not gonna take any of your milf options." I say with a chuckle as Liz puts on a pouty face. Some other people in the crowd laugh. The second hand I spot is..her.

"You! Lady with the blonde-ish hair at the bar!" I say, pointing to her. She clears her throat before asking. "What age did you start singing?" Her raspy voice shocks me..good god I think I'm falling for her even more now. "Great question from...?" I ask, just wanting to know her name. "Xandra, Xandra with an X." She says with a smirk. My smile drops as memories come flooding and flooding back throughout my mind, my whole life flashing before my eyes. "What a unique name! Xandra with an X asked what age I started uh..singing. For all you people in the front that couldn't hear." I say, my smile slightly coming back, but it being slightly fake. "I actually started putting on small performances for my mom and one of...her friends at the young age of 7! Yes, they were frozen songs, and yes they did suck, but I mean technically that's when I started singing." I say with a smile as the memories I had of my mom and this..faceless person comes flooding back, but that persons face is filled. It's Xandra. "Can I ask another question?" Xandra's raspy voice asks again. "Go at it!" I say, forcing a smile. "What degree do you have if you have one?" Xandra asks, the cigarette resting between her middle and pointer finger. "Great question again. I have a Bachelors Degree in physiology!" I say, actually proud of that achievement. Some people clapped and some just smiled and whistled, Xandra being one of the ones that clapped, but she was the loudest.

The rest of the questions went by in a breeze, but sadly I wasn't able to sing tonight. Once I got off the stage, I decide to go sit at the bar, Xandra still being there but involved in the news. I decide to watch as well. "Olivia y/l/n found dead after committing suicide! There was a note found, but we will not disclose of that note for personal reasons." The news blares, and my ears ring. Tears quickly fall down my cheeks as I pull out my phone, sure she had to send me a message, I find no message but a voicemail. I ignore all the people around me asking questions and I rush to the bathroom, only to listen to her voicemail.

"Hey darling...it's your mama...life has gotten so hard, and I was diagnosed with..brain cancer. I'd rather just die quickly than die a slow death due to fucking cancer. I'll miss ya baby, but I'll always be beside and with you. I hope you and Xandra can reconnect, by the way, your singing voice, it's better than anybody else's I've heard in the world. I left a note for ya...one at my house in my bedroom, and one at the..place. I don't know how soon or late you'll listen to this, but I want you to know, I love you. I may have not said that many times when you were younger, but I love you so very much. I'll be with you. Forever and ever, love you, to the moon and back." Her sweet sweet country voice blares through the phone speakers as I sob, curling up in a ball against a bathroom stall.

Why tonight, why any night...why ever?

(A/N: may or may not have cried writing this chapter, I kind of inspired it on personal experience from what my dad left me with, sooooo sorry to all the people who love happy joyful stories, but I have to add some angst into here somewhere)
