When the three of you made it back to the base, Knuckles greeted you. Sonic, of course, told his whole story of how he beat the big killer robot. Everyone seemed pleased and you tried to be too, but you just couldn't help but feel like Sonic was going to fast and needed to slow down. You knew that wasn't his thing, but he only had about a day to recover and he was already off fighting again. He wasn't bulletproof...and he knew that. You were nervous that one of these days he was gonna bite off more than he could chew.

Anyways, sooner or later Espio, Charmy, and Vector returned to the base. Knuckles greeted them and asked how their mission went. "We were able to take down the factory." Vector answered.

"Yes, hopefully Eggman won't be able to get as many resources for his army now." Espio added.

"It was great, I got to fight so many killer robots and I destroyed every one..." Charmy spoke, and continued to babble on. You didn't mean to be rude and ignore him, but you kinda zoned out as you thought of something. You quietly stepped out of the circle you had formed and made your way towards Knuckles, tapping his shoulder.

He turned towards you and stepped out of the circle himself. "You okay?"

"Yeah, but have you heard from Amy or Silver? I feel like they would've at least come in with some news by now." You admitted.

"Yeah, you're right, but I haven't heard anything from them."

"Did you check your transmitter?"

"Yeah, it says no messages." Knuckles said, lifting his arm and looking at his transmitter. His eyebrows suddenly raised as he took notice of something.

"...What is it?" You asked.

"Huh...there seems to be a spring loose here or something. It must've came out of place in my last battle." Knuckles explained, pushing the wire carefully back in place.

As soon as he did, there was a click and Amy's voice came roaring over his transmitter. "KNUCKLES!!" She screamed, so loud that you swore the whole room shook.

Knuckles almost dropped his transmitter in shock. "Amy, what is it?" He asked. Attention was quickly drawn towards the two of you and everyone soon gathered around.

Amy's voice was scratchy and it sounded as if she was running. "You need to send someone over here, and fast!"

"What happened?" Knuckles questioned.

"It turns out there's a lot more going on here than you thought! The scouts were right!"

"What did you find?"

"Eggman has a whole other base out here! But, that doesn't matter right now...Silver's fighting that thing, that thing that almost killed Sonic!" Your eyes widened. Zero was there!? "You need to send backup. He can't hold him off forever!" Amy shouted.

"Don't worry, I'm on it." Knuckles responded.

"Good. I'm on my way back to the base now, and Knuckles, hurry!" She concluded, before hanging up.

"What did I just hear...?" Sonic asked.

"Amy and Silver were attacked!" Knuckles replied.

"By who?" Rouge asked.

"That thing that almost killed Sonic." Knuckles stated. Everyone seemed to gasp. "Silvers fighting him now, we need to send him back up."

"Of course we do. You can't hold that guy off for long...I know from experience. I'll go, I can get there the fastest!" Sonic said, before running straight out of the base.
