Mystic Falls High School

Sage had asked Damon to drop off Aaron's gym clothes at the high school. He had taken Enzo along to let him practice his driving. This time, they had taken one of the black SUVs. When Enzo protested, Damon explained that Enzo needed to practice driving different vehicles if he wished to get his official license.

"Just pull in here. I'll run in and drop it off," Damon said, shutting the door of the passenger side as Enzo cranked up the radio of an Oldies station.

Damon left the bag in the main office with Mrs. Clarke. He saw Kol when he was leaving. Kol was walking down the hallway with his hands in his pockets, looking a bit out of sorts. His hair was messy and his shirt wrinkled.

"You get thrown out yet?" Damon quipped.

Kol laughed, "Nay, it's lunch. I ate my sandwich this morning so I was just taking a walk. So was the alarm thing your idea of a prank on us? You should have seen Bekah and Stefan fussing over their hair."

Damon also chuckled, "No, I just thought that all of ya Originals were smart enough to reset alarm clocks. Guess I was wrong!"

"Bugger off, mate. I was sleeping," Kol defended. "So what are you doing lurking around here anyway? Looking for another teenage girlfriend?"

Damon rolled his eyes. "Nah, that little shit Aaron forgot his gym clothes and I'd thought I'd take Enzo for some practice driving. My dad is buying him a car. Well, if he lets Elijah teach him piano and shit like that."
Kol almost choked, "Buying him a what? You get a bleedin' pony and he gets a car! Even the little kids got a snake and a bunch of dogs! What do I get? A slap upside the head or another dagger in the heart?"

"Whoa, settle down, Kol," Damon hissed, looking around. Luckily, the hallway was deserted. "Fuck, you sound...jealous!"

Kol took a breath and unclenched his fists.

"You know, maybe I am jealous. First, it was Marcellus, always being the spoilt child and getting whatever he wanted. Coddled and petted constantly...It just gets old being an afterthought, you know? Well, I guess you wouldn't know," Kol said bitterly.

"Hey, man," Damon said, speaking softly. "I'm sorry. I guess I never really thought of it. I have an idea...if you don't mind 'bunking off' for the day?"

Kol finally smiled, "Aye, I could use a day off. A bloke in my class just got called out for an appointment. What say you write me a note or better get call on your mobile?"

"Yeah, we'll go out to the quarry with a case of beer," Damon suggested. "You can show me some super dangerous spells and maybe we can throw Enzo in the lake. I'll tell Dad that we're shopping for...horse supplies or something."

"Make it happen," Kol said, his mood suddenly improved. "I'll tell Rebekah that...Shite, I'll just bribe her. Now that she's not allowed to compel shopkeepers, she's always looking for cash. Do you have like $200?"

"$200! Jesus, how about a hundred?" Damon corrected. "I don't even have $200 on me."

"Aye, that should do it. I'll get my things," Kol said happily.

"Okay, wait for them to call you," Damon reminded him. "Don't fuck it up. And we'll have to have you home at the regular time. Maybe I can drop you back off here at dismissal? Then, Rebekah won't even need to know."
