July 5,1933
Vic wanted nothing more than to storm Marchetti territory.
But he wasn't stupid.
If Graziella really was alive, they were hiding her. He needed to find her —quietly. Then, once he was with her again, he'd get Junior and they'd go! They'd run somewhere no one could find them! They'd start a new life together.
As angry as Lorenzo was making him, he'd let him have the title Don... Nah! He'd inform Glorietta. She was more capable of taking care of the family than Lorenzo!
God! I could cut his throat!
But he wouldn't. Glorietta would handle Lor. Vic needed to focus on getting out while he could —but not until he found Graziella!
His heart twisted inside his chest as he pulled up into his driveway.
"Graziella." he whispered.
The front door opened. "Vic!" Isla came running out to him. "Oh, Vic, thank God you're here! It's Junior!"
Vic ran up the steps. Into the house. Up the stairs. Into Junior's room.
The doctor met him at the door.
"Doc! Is he?"
"He's barely making it. I would call Father Clemente... I don't know how much time he has left. Maybe more than I think... maybe less." The doc left the two alone.
Vic sat beside Junior. "Junior."
Eyes fluttered open. "Hey, Pop... I'm sorry."
"No, son, don't be sorry."
"I tried really hard to stay strong for you. Looks like I wasn't strong enough. I'll tell Ma you say hi." he tried to smile, eyes blearing.
"Son, hold on. Hold on a little longer. I-I found out some great news."
"What news?"
Vic took his hands in his. Leaned in. "Your mother... is alive."
Junior's cheeks brightened. "R-really?"
Nod. "Her parents have been hiding her away... they... they didn't like me very much. But I'm going to find her, so I need you to be strong. Okay?"
"I will, Pop! I will!"

Vic's wine cellar...
Thomas, aggravated, paced the lengthy room. The pawn Rory on the other side of the door."I don't like this," he turned to Anet. "Is Graziella really alive?"
Nod.
"How do you know? Have you always known?"
"I haven't always known. I found out before I got here..."
"Then why didn't you tell him before all this?!"
She looked away.
"Anet."
"You know how I'm a Marchetti as well as a Peters?"
"Yeah."
"Well... Graziella —she's..."
It clicked. "She's a grandmother."
"My great grandmother. Sh-she had my Grandpa Lucas with Patrick Peters."
Thomas swore. "She left Vic for—,"
"No! No, she didn't leave Vic! She still loves Vic...she's being kept from him, and somewhere along the way... things happened with Patrick."
Thomas swore again. "Do you know where she is?"
