"Why's he so early?" Matthew mumbles to himself, face flushing out of panic, as he desperately tries to tuck in his white button up. He still had his sweater vest, shoes and accessories to put on, and after one glance in the mirror, he knew he needed to fix his hair. None of this would be an issue, if his date wasn't forty minutes early. He starts to question if he got the time wrong, but he was sure he told Hanbin to come around at eight.
Hearing another loud sequence of knocks, Matthew hurries to the door, sucking in a deep breath before he opens it. "You again?" He was expecting to see the cute barista who asked him out the other day, but instead he was greeted by the man he had broken up with three months ago.
Now, Kim Jiwoong was no sore sight to see. He the kind of handsome that struck you like a lightning bolt, sparking that strange tingling sensation that made you wonder if you were dying. He just had that affect on people. Despite the fact they were no longer dating, they had remained friend, but that doesn't mean Matthew was pleased to see him lent against his doorway with that signature cocky smirk.
"What are you doing here?" He asked with little patience, placing his hands on his hips as he waited for whatever stupid excuse Jiwoong was about to concoct. Last time his car broke down, the time before he got lost, and Matthew's personal favourite, the time he showed up claiming to have been attacked by a dog without a single trace of blood in sight.
Jiwoong shrugs, not so subtly gazing around Matthew and into the apartment. "I was just passing by."
"Well it was nice to see you-" Matthew attempts to shut the door, but Jiwoong pushes his way inside. He lets out a loud huff, knowing he was going to have to deal with his bullshit quickly, so that he wasn't still here when Hanbin arrived.
He watches as Jiwoong far too casually waltzes into his apartment, and heads straight for the kitchen. Matthew is fast to follow, because he was still in the process of making the dinner for his date, and he didn't want Jiwoong messing with it.
"What's all this for?" Jiwoong plays dumb, eyeing up the food on the stove.
"Don't act like Gyuvin didn't tell you, he sucks at keeping secrets."
"I haven't talked to Gyuvin in a week." Jiwoong states, peeking into the fridge. Matthew hated how he always came in here and went through his stuff. After shaking the cheese cake Matthew had made for dessert, he shuts the fridge, eyes falling to the bottle of red wine next to it. He plucks it off the counter, and walks over to the draw of random kitchen utensils.
"You played pool with him last night." Matthew rolls his eyes. "Put that down." He sighs, too late, as Jiwoong pops open the bottle.
"Okay, I do know, but I swear I forgot." Jiwoong's grin was despicably guilt free, which irked Matthew to his core. So this is how he's gonna play it. "The guy's not even here yet, lets have a drink." He proceeds to pour out two large glasses of wine. Picking both glasses up, he walks past Matthew, and plants himself on the grey couch. "Were you going for boring?" He asks, gesturing to Matthew's outfit.
Matthew scoffs, slumping down on the other end of the couch. "Actually, I'm not finished yet, but someone had to come along and bug me."
An annoyingly proud laugh comes from Jiwoong, as if he was happy to get under Matthew's skin. "I mean, you always went above and beyond for our dates, I can't imagine this guy is that special." He snickers, finally handing Matthew his glass of wine.
He was reluctant to take it, but the longer he waited, the more Jiwoong shook the glass, and he did not want red wine spilled all over his couch.
"Talking about this guy...What's he like?"
