Ricky had never felt more disappointed walking out of the testing center. Today was supposed to be the day he'd finally pass his drivers test, but just like the other four times, he had completely messed it up. This one was by far the worst, and it actually made him question whether he should quit driving all together. He glances down at the paper in his hands, only able to focus on the large FAIL written at the top. Feeling overwhelmed in frustration, Ricky crumples up the paper and throws it on the ground.
"Hey hey hey- what happened?"
In a matter of seconds, Ricky's face is cupped by two soft hands, and his head is lifted to meet the most comforting pair of brown eyes. It's like all of his frustration slipped away, and the only thing he could feel was the devastation. He throws his arms around the older and buries his head into the crook of his neck. "I failed again." He mumbles into his grey hoodie.
"That's okay- I'm sure you'll get it next time." Hanbin says sincerely, soothing up and down Ricky's back.
The blonde snaps his head up, still held in Hanbin's embrace. "I did really bad today." He slowly veers his head over to the other side of the parking lot, knowing that Hanbin would mirror that movement, he stares in the direction of the car he had driven today.
The car that was missing its rear bumper.
When Hanbin see's the car, he turns back to Ricky in shock, silently asking if he really did that. "I don't know how it happened either." Ricky whines, overwhelmed in embarrassment. All he knew was that one minute he was reversing completely fine, and the next, the bumper was gone.
"Well look on the bright side, you surely can't do worse than that." Hanbin chuckles lightly, but Ricky only groans, knowing that he definitely could. "Ok, that's enough misery for you, let's go get some ice cream."
"I don't deserve ice cream, I'm a failure." Ricky grumbles, finding himself dragged to Hanbin's car. The older doesn't pay any attention to his bad attitude, helping Ricky into the car, he even does up his seat belt for him.
The drive was short and they didn't speak much, as Ricky hooked his phone up to the aux and played the most heartbreaking ballads imaginable. He did this every time he failed- except the last time, when he was feeling a bit delusional and blasted hype music, until he inevitably burst into tears. Luckily there were no tears today, but that wasn't because Ricky felt any better. He still winced every time he thought about the test and how terrible it had gone, wishing he had the power to erase the experience from his memories.
"I don't wanna go in there..." Ricky whines, dragging his feet as he walked towards the ice cream shop.
"You have nothing to worry about," Hanbin reassures him, reaching for the door handle. "I've already told him not to say anything-"
"Congratulations!"
Ricky instantly snaps his unimpressed gaze at Hanbin, and the older just chuckles awkwardly. "Uh Gyuvin...remember what we talked about." He says, walking up to the counter.
"Holy shit!" Gyuvin gasps, his jaw dropping to the floor. "You failed again?! How is that even possible?!"
"Okay I'm leaving-"
Before Ricky can go anywhere, Hanbin grabs his hand and intertwines their fingers. His soft, pleading eyes falling on Ricky. "Please stay."
This wasn't fair, Hanbin was too perfect. How could Ricky say no to that? His stomach was literally full of butterflies, and all he could do was nod slowly, watching Hanbin smile in relief.
"No more talking about the test please." Hanbin turns his attention back to their friend, still holding Ricky's hand; he gives it a light squeeze every now and then. "Can I order-"
