It was a strangely sunny November morning, but the cold breeze carried all the same. Ricky didn't mind having to add an extra layer of clothing this morning, as long as he wasn't subjected to another day of overcast skies. It was such a shame that the leaves had started falling already, he was definitely going to miss autumn. Although he did enjoy hearing the leaves crunching beneath his feet as he took his morning stroll. His first lecture not starting for another thirty minutes.

"Say cheese!"

Everything happened so quickly. One minute Ricky was bathing in the peaceful morning atmosphere, and the next, he was getting jumped on and blinded by the flash of a camera.

"What the hell?!" He blinks rapidly, trying to regain his sight again, after being so rudely flash banged. It takes a few seconds, but as the bright blobs started to dispense, he could make out the perpetrator.

"Are you deaf? I said say cheese." Gunwook snickers, eyes glued to his phone, his thumbs speedily tapping at the screen.

"Did you take a picture of me?"

The ravenette doesn't bother to answer the question with a response, he simply nods his head and keeps typing, until he suddenly shuts the phone off, and looks at Ricky with a smirk.

"You're so annoying." Ricky huffs.

"Well it was your mum who asked for the pic." Gunwook replies, chuckling at how Ricky's face twists in confusion. "Our mums are having breakfast together, and I told them I was with you."

"Why would you do that?"

"Why else? To make them happy."

Have you ever had a friend, who you only interact with because they're the son of your mothers best friend? Ricky has- he still currently does, and he just happened to be standing in front of him right now.

Their friendship had been decided way before either of them had even been born. Their mothers always dreamed about having children around the same age, and when they happened to have their sons only eight months apart, they couldn't have been more ecstatic. They played with each other almost every day, as that was how frequent their mothers hung out, and they celebrated every special occasion with each other aswell. They were practically a family, and even after their parents had more children, their mums still referred to them as 'brothers'.

If only the reality was as perfect as they made it seem. Ricky and Gunwook were total opposites, so much so, Ricky swore that they would have never been friends if they had met organically. Ricky liked the quiet, spending time alone; lighting up a strawberry scented candle and settling down with a good text book. While, Gunwook- well...he didn't like any of those things. He was always blabbering on about something weird, playing overly gory video games, and he loved getting himself into trouble. Despite their differences, Ricky managed to build up some sense of tolerance for the boy. He didn't hate him, like he probably would have if it wasn't for all the years they spent together, but he didn't really like calling him a friend either.

Heading off to university was the first time in his life he had been away from Gunwook, and he loved it. He got to make new friends, without Gunwook scaring off all the normal people, he was far enough away, that Gunwook could never come visit, and since he was now studying at a higher level, he could always use the excuse that he was too busy to reply to Gunwook's texts. Life was so great for Ricky during that first year, but good things always have to come to an end.

At the start of this semester, he got a call from his mother telling him to go to the new student orientation being held in the main building on campus. He immediately had a sinking feeling, but his mum kept repeating that nothing strange was going on, and that he would understand once he got there. Just as he expected, the boisterous ravenette was waiting there to greet him with a big "Surprise!", jumping into his arms like an excited puppy. That's how he got stuck with Gunwook again, and as they were studying similar subjects, they saw each other all of the time.
