- A friendship fic -

Looking up at the clock on the wall, Yujin felt his heart drop. Why did the time always pass by so quickly? It took an eternity to get to Friday, and yet, the hour he anticipated so dearly, seemed to slip away faster than he could ever comprehend. He brought his disappointed gaze back to his tutor, unable to hold back his smile gazing upon the beauty that was Shen Ricky. He was never not in awe of him, those soft yet alluring features far more captivating than any model he had seen scrolling through Instagram. It was hard to believe that at one point in time, he dreaded the thought of learning Mandarin. Because ever since Ricky came into his life, it had become his favorite subject.

"Wow I'm impressed Yujin, you've really improved so fast over this week." His whole body tingled as the older ruffled his hair, causing his cheeks to dust a rosy pink shade. "You must have practiced hard."

"I did." He muttered quietly, holding back the truth of the matter. The long late nights, staying up until the morning sun just to make sure he had enough time to practice. It was exhausting, but worth it, all to hear Ricky's approval.

"You're a good kid." Ricky smiled at him, turning away to flick through his folder of worksheets.

That 'kid' burnt Yujin deep. His shoulders dropping, and mood plummeting, all due to one simple word. He really hated being called a kid. He was 17 now, practically an adult! He wasn't sitting around watching cartoons all day and sipping on baby bottles. When he wasn't studying, he was going to parties, drinking alcohol, he'd even kissed a few people. What could he do to get Ricky to see him as more than a kid? It was frustrating.

"I'll give you an extra few worksheets this week, considering how much you excelled in the last ones." Ricky said, sliding the small pile of worksheets over to Yujin. "Have you got any worries, or questions, or really anything you want to speak to me about?"

Um, I don't know, for one, I'm madly in love with you.

"No."

"Alright then," Ricky swiftly stood up, hanging his bag over his shoulder. "I'll see you next week."

Yujin waved at the tutor as he left his kitchen, angry at himself that he hadn't found a way to make him stay longer. With a pout on his lips, he picked himself up and headed to his living room, where he just as quickly threw himself onto the plush cushions of his sofa. He let out a muffled scream into the cushion below him. That pent up frustration draining out of him in an instant.

"What're you screaming about weirdo?"

Yujin dejectedly lifted his head from the cushion, eyes fixing on the tall brunette leaning against the door frame. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm bored." The boy shrugged, stepping into the room. Yujin quickly maneuvered his legs around to make room for him on the other end of the sofa.

This was Kim Gyuvin, the only other person in the world, Yujin was in awe of.

If Ricky was the ideal perception of beauty, Gyuvin was the complete and utter definition of coolness. He was confident, but not cocky. He didn't care about other peoples opinions, but stood up for himself when anyone dared to disrespect him. He was popular, with more friends than there were stars in the sky. He was great at sports, specifically basketball, in which he was the captain of his local team. He drove a car he bought for pennies, but spent all summer fixing up into something even professionals would gawk at. And most of all, he wasn't afraid to tell someone when he liked them.

Yujin wanted to be like Gyuvin more than anything in the world. They'd been neighbors his whole life, and friends for as long as he could remember. He trusted him with every bone in his body, and sought out his advice every time he was in a crisis. He hadn't told Gyuvin about his crush, mainly because he wanted to avoid the teasing that would come along with it. But he'd reached a point now where his feelings were uncontrollable. Bound to drive himself crazy trying to keep them all inside.
