"Carl?" I asked confused as he led me upstairs to our shared bedroom.
"i should've said something sooner" he muttered pacing the floor his hands running through his hair
"carl what are you talking about?" you knew exactly what he was talking about, he told you he thought he knew how she died but now he won't say anything.
"that night- the night she left" he started dread creeping onto his face "i-i heard her scream" he said looking at you.
your face dropped. he heard your mom screaming and didn't do anything about it?
"so you just decided to let her die?" you asked coldly
"no! well, i didn't know" he said feeling guilty
"carl how did you not know!" you yelled at him
"i wasn't sure! i thought she'd gotten bitten and I-i knew that'd hurt you even more than her disappearing" he said sympathetically
"carl. do you know how many nightmares I've had since she's been gone?" you asked looking at him with tears in your eyes
"no- im sorry y/n" he said looking at you
"bullshit carl! i lost everything, my mom, glenn, ron who knows what's next!" you cried
"you still have me" carl said hugging you but you quickly pulled away
"no Carl. I don't even have you" you said looking at him
"what do you mean?" he asked confused
"you have enid" you sighed
"we're jus-" you cut him off
"your not just friends carl, michonne may be stupid but I'm not." you rolled your eyes
"y/n, that doesn't mean I'm not still here for you" he said
"she doesn't like you around me, I heard it all" you told him and leaned back on the bed
"just get out Carl" you sighed
"im sorry y/n" he said as he left
you had so much to process, carl knew something happened to your mom and didn't even tell anyone. all the days worrying and nights crying, they would've never happened if carl would've just spoken up. but then again, who? who killed your mom? who would want too? everyone in the group loved her, at least you thought until you had a flashback to a few nights before your mom went missing. a conversation you weren't supposed to here.
