chapter 20

"stay away from him" the womans voice echoed out of my moms cell.
"what? why?" i heard my mom ask curiously
"because i said so" the woman said
"i promise you-" the woman stopped my mom from finishing her sentence
"i think you need to go on a walk. go." the woman ordered my mom

*end of flashback*

someone ordered her out? and who was the lady telling my mom to stay away from. you knew you'd recognize the voice if you heard it again. it ate you alive not being able to figure out who it was. you decided to go find carl and tell him what you had remembered.

you were walking through the streets when you noticed maggie and enid digging in an open field, as much as you hated them curiosity got the best of you
"hey guys" you said as you walked towards them
"hey y/n" maggie smiled at you
"y/n" enid nodded towards you
"what are you guys doing?" you asked
"we're about to plant some seeds" Maggie said as Enid handed her a package
"oh cool, what kind?" you asked, it'd been forever since you'd seen a pack of seeds.
"tomatos and carrots" enid answered

a few minutes passed and you 3 talked and then you remembered why you even left the house in the first place.
"hey do you happen to know where carl is?" you asked enid
"uh no why?" she replied snobby.
"i need to talk to him" you said ignoring her tone
"for what?" Maggie asked
"i remembered something and i need to tell him" you said
"remembered what?" enid asked
"it's sorta private" you replied
"well he's sorta my boyfriend, so what do you need to tell him?" enid snapped

it felt like your heart broken into a million little pieces hearing enid say carl was her boyfriend. you knew he was lying to you by saying they were just friends but you at least wanted to try to believe him. and now, carl was officially gone. and suddenly nothing mattered anymore, everyone was gonna be gone eventually. you wouldn't have no one, so you might as well start practicing now right? you laughed to yourself a little as you turned around to leave maggie called out to you

"y/n!" she said
"yeah?" you asked
"are you gonna go look for Carl?" She asked, you hadn't planned on it after what Enid said. but hell you might as well
"probably why?" you shrugged
"don't, stay away from him" maggie said sternly
"what? why?" you asked confused
"respect enids boundaries please" she said
"i just need to tell him something geez" you rolled your eyes
"stay away from him y/n. im telling you" she gave you a look
"but why?" you protested
"because i said so." she said coldly and yo your heart dropped.

it was maggie. maggie was the woman who told your mom to go for a walk, maggie was the woman who told her to stay away from someone, does that mean she told your mom to stay away from glenn? a million thoughts ran through your head. was she the person who shot your mom? because of what? it seemed like jealously. but your mom hadnt wanted glenn, she had Daryl. how could maggie do that? make her leave? at the edge of nightfall! you had to get out of there and quick. you couldn't let her know you knew anything so you ran. and you ran fast. not knowing where you were running too, you just kept running not even stopping to tell Carl.
