Jungwon, maintaining his stoic demeanor, avoiding her stare, he raised an eyebrow.
"Well, Cheonsa, first, I need to know why you decided to steal instead of reporting the incident."
With a sly smile, Cheonsa replied,
"Oh, Officer, I was in a rush. I was even planning to pay for it, but fairness is my middle name."
Jungwon, still avoiding eye contact, nodded while scrutinizing the authenticity of the documents.
"Mhm."
Cheonsa leaned in, her tone dropping to a sultry whisper.
"And, reporting things to you guys? Such a chore."
As Jungwon passed the papers through the gap in the window for inspection, Cheonsa couldn't help but frown, feigning a touch of sadness, noticing him avoiding her.
Seizing the opportunity, she remarked,
"Avoiding eye contact, Officer? Are you trying to break my heart, or are you just shy?"
It seemed at that point, professionalism got away from Cheonsa's vocabulary.
Jungwon couldn't escape the heat rising to his ears, and after a deep sigh, he mustered the courage to meet Cheonsa's gaze.
However, his ears had plans of their own and blushed a shade that would put tomatoes to shame.
"The official verdict on the authenticity paperwork will have to wait... and, uh, by the way, you're looking exceptionally, um, beautiful today, Miss Cheonsa."
The words that he contained since he got inside the room were finally spilled out, breaking the silence that had lingered in the investigation room.
On the other side, Cheonsa gulped audibly, convinced that Jungwon had just infected her with a contagious case of tomato-faced syndrome.
As if on cue, whistles and applause erupted from behind the tinted window, interrupting the awkward exchange.
"Come on! Get a room already Damn it!"
"Seriously! At this rate, you might as well exchange vows here! Jay would volunteer to be the priest!"
Jungwon shot a glare at the tinted window, only to realize that the investigation had ended.
The uproar indicated that the officers were more than ready to wrap things up.
Cheonsa, with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes and a sly smile playing on her lips, couldn't resist enjoying his co-workers' teasing.
"So... when will your shift end for today?"
She asked, her cheeks still tinged with a rosy hue from the earlier comments made by his fellow officers. As if on cue, another voice chimed in from behind the tinted window, turning the situation into a comedic spectacle.
"You can have him all to yourself now! His duty is done for the day! No, scratch that, you can have him for the rest of your life!"
Jungwon sighed, shooting Cheonsa an apologetic smile as he disappeared behind the tinted glass. From inside the room, muffled cries for help and laughter erupted.
"HELP! I—HAHAHAHA, PLEASE STOP—PFFFF!"
Cheonsa couldn't contain her laughter, thoroughly enjoying the chaos unfolding on the other side of the window.
Eventually, Jungwon emerged, smiling apologetically yet again.
"Yes, I am finally free now. What's up?"
He asked, his gaze lingering on Cheonsa, who was looking all dolled up and irresistible. Her next sentence, delivered with a sly grin, left everyone in the room and Jungwon himself choking on their salivas.
"I want you to meet my parents."
