Monday finally came.

Vanessa was sitting outside in a little area they had near the woods. No one ever went there but her. Other kids would come from time to time. Usually, it was empty because she was always alone. She loved the hour of escaping reality with her books. It always gave some sense of peace.

The lunch period would be ending soon, and she would have to close up the novel. The female was constantly reading and always had her nose in a book. It was the escape she had when things got too crazy. But really, it would help Vanessa drift away from this shitty place of a town.

Hawkins was her home. Though it wasn't all that great, she hoped to leave here someday and live somewhere far away. To have a big house with many windows that shelter her from the world. Where she can sit all day along with all her books, somewhere she could be by herself with no one else.

A place where she can be alone.

It was sad how the girl felt all the time. Constantly thinking of the worst and getting anxiety so bad she couldn't breathe. Those things sucked the most, but when you lived a life she did, those issues stick.

Vanessa continued to read her book, entirely invested in the story, until suddenly, a noise was heard. She quickly looked up and around but saw no one there. The girl shrugged it off and looked back down at her book. Her eyes scanned the pages before flipping to another one.

As she kept reading, a hand touched her shoulder, making her jump, "JESUS."

The girl turned around, and the person backed up, "Whoa, whoa, relax." Vanessa quickly realized who it was and put a hand over her chest.

Gareth stood there with a smile, thinking her being scared was amusing. Though to the female, it was not at all. She was innocently reading her book, and he just had to sneak up on her. The male knew she would be here like always.

"You're an ass," she mumbled, closing the book to put back in her bag. Though Vanessa was just happy, it was someone she knew rather than a stranger.

The boy chuckled before hopping up on the table next to her. He only came out here to try to talk to the girl. Having a crush on her was hard, especially because Vanessa didn't date anyone. The last time she had a boyfriend, Eddie kicked the shit out of him so bad he left town.

After that, she never was with anyone else since. It took a toll on her, and she refused to get close to someone like that again though that could always change.

Gareth sighed, "I'm sorry I just wanted to see if you had any joints." The blonde rolled her eyes before searching in her bag. Eddie usually gave her a shit ton knowing her anxiety was usually threw the fucking roof. She didn't want to rely too much on the drug, but it helped.

"You know I do," Vanessa replied before throwing the bag at him.

He graciously thanked her before taking one out. The boy handled it back as Ness got down from where she was sitting. Lunch was nearly over soon, and she would have to head back towards the school. "Come on, Gar, you don't want to be late for sixth period," she said, walking away from him.
