Finals were coming up,

and Vanessa was dreading it. She practically studied every night. Not caring about how late it was or how long she stayed up. Her books were always open, ready to do more. And if she got tired, there would have a big cup of coffee on the table next to her.

Anything was better than failing, so Ness occupied herself as much as possible. Whether it was working on homework at the arcade or home, she was always doing something to memorize the material.

But if the girl wasn't studying, the telephone would be pressed to her ear. A big smile on her lips while Steve Harrington was on the other line...definitely not talking about school with each other.

"Wrong," Vanessa spoke into the phone. "Jimmy Page is the guitarist. Have you learned nothing from me, Harrington?"

Steve huffed, "It's a lot of information."

The blonde held the phone with her shoulder as she moved papers around, "No, it's not. So, stop complaining."

"I don't know how to do that."

Ness rolled her eyes at his comment. They had been on the phone for about an hour, talking about who knows what. Steve just called about the money he had to give her for helping with the essay. Yet he still didn't know what the hell to write about.

First, Steve made a list of everything to compare to basketball, but that didn't work. Then tried to come up with something else. Unfortunately, that hasn't worked for the struggling male either. All the papers written on ended up in the garbage or left untouched with the rest.

The boy was struggling. But he needed to be fast with only having a few months left till the deadline. Steve needed to get a move on soon.

But ever since the SnowBall, all that was on his mind was Vanessa. It didn't matter where or when she was there. He couldn't focus on anything but that. While also telling himself it was a silly thing that would go away.

It was, after all, just a crush.

"Well, at least I've listened to the first album," Steve boasts, putting an arm behind his head. "And I'm even almost done with the second one.".

The girl hums into the receiver, "You still got a lot more to go."

He chuckled, "Don't worry, Vee. I promise, I'll finish them."

"Can't ever go wrong with rock n roll", Vanessa grinned into phone before continuing to write on the paper.

They had become good friends since Halloween. Both teens brought out the best in each other. Always talking or hanging out. It made the girl happy to have someone like Steve.
