openings will be delayed due to the snowstorm heading our way. More information about the field trip change will be released later.."

Steve listened closely to the radio as he stood near the counter at scoops. Robin and him had been there all day doing nothing but sitting. No one was coming to the mall since the snow was going to get worse this weekend.

But Robin and him had to come in still. They were both just sitting in the back, doing whatever they could to pass the time.

New years hadn't passed yet, and they were still holding off on the kids going back. It was probably only for a few days. That would mean the field trip planned would have to be pushed back. Most of the teens were excited to go, especially out of state.

It was the first time two teachers got together to make something happen like this. Field trips were usually short and were only a couple of miles away. So, it was a big deal for the seniors and juniors.

The male still couldn't believe how much time had flown by the last couple of months. He felt like Thanksgiving was only yesterday, and now it would finally be 1985. It was weird to think about.

"Is your hair purple?" Robin said, interrupting his thoughts while looking at the purple, slightly fading back to brown.

The male stared at the book he was reading before answering, "Yes, Robin. It is."

She narrowed her eyes at Steve, noticing his face was shoved into a book. When does he ever read? Robin looked at the cover, seeing the words across it reading, 'The Shining.' The girl noticed how much Steve had changed since working with him. Even more than how he used to be last year.

It was strange to her how different the boy was, and seemed happier lately. They were only with each other during work or when they hung out. You would've never thought those two would end up being friends, but here they are.

"Anyways, I'm seeing Vanessa tomorrow, and you better not steal her away," Robin states, hopping off the counter.

Steve rolled his eyes, knowing this already because the girl had only said it five times today. Though it made him happy to know the girls were close and became good friends. He knew Vanessa struggled with getting close to people, so this made him happy.

The two coworkers continued to bicker, waiting for their shift to end. Taking bites of ice cream out of the tub, no one was going to buy.

On the other side of town, Vanessa was sitting in her house reading like always, waiting for Steve to get off work. It was a ritual at this point for them. They would meet up and hang out, also making time for the male's essay. He kept telling Ness about being stuck on it, though that wasn't the whole truth.
