"Order up,"

Robin yells, giving one of the customers their ice cream.

Steve's back leaned against the chair while eating lunch. He went on break a few minutes ago and wanted to go home. Being in a workplace like this wasn't the best.

He didn't start until two days ago, and it's already been a mess. Kids constantly asked for samples, parents were getting mad, and overall horrible. If it wasn't the ice cream, it was the service. So maybe this lunch break wasn't that bad.

Time was going unbelievably slow. Scoops wasn't that crowded, especially for it being Sunday. Though not many people were out today, and school already started back up.

It was dreadful. Other than the time Steve was hanging out with Vanessa. Even though they would work on the essay, the library would fill up with their voices until getting shushed by the receptionist. But they would continue to talk anyways.

The two enjoyed each other's company. Always laughing or making jokes. They were the best of friends.

On the other side of the wall, Steve's coworker Robin Buckley stood at the counter. She was also bored, not knowing what to do. The girl also went to Hawkins High, was in band, and played the trumpet. However, no one knew that, especially Steve.

They were friendly with each other but didn't talk about anything important. It was mostly Robin making fun of him for flirting with any girl who came in. This annoyed the boy, though he kept trying to talk to girls that came into the little store.

After his conversation with Vanessa, he thought getting "back in the game" would help him. Trying to test out the waters but had zero luck with that.

While Robin stayed at the front, a short curly haired boy came up to her. A smile rested on his face as he spoke. She didn't know who this kid was nor cared. They exchanged a few more words before the kid asked where his best friend was.

"So, is Steve here?", He asked.

She just laughed, "You know him?". This kid looks twelve, and he's hanging out with Steve? Though before she said anything else, something cut her off instead.

Immediately the door to the back busted open, with Steve already knowing who it was. "Henderson," He smiles, making the boy laugh.

"You got the job!" Dustin yells.

"I got the job."

Both boys took this time to do their usual routine handshake. Using fake lightsabers and sound effects too. This broke them into laughter as Robin stared at them, "How many children are you friends with?".
