Third-person POV

Alex barely manages to stand on his feet after seeing the report. He stepped toward Risha, taking baby steps. Risha stared at him with curiosity, she gasped as she saw her pregnancy report in Alex's hand.

"Does that bustard know?" he asked her furiously as he put both of his hands on either side of her, approaching her. "Answer me Rish, does that bustard know everything?" anger and hurt was evident in his eyes. Risha shook her head negatively.

"He only knew about my miscarriage, not..." Risha swallowed hard as the next word didn't come out of her mouth, fearing how Alex would react, though he knew the outcome.

"How can you? How can you do this to us, Rish!" he exclaimed in a pained voice, as if his entire world was gonna scramble down. He slumped himself beside Risha helplessly.

"Alex, I can... I can explain..." Risha uttered with trembling lips as tears were threatening to fall from her eyes. She knew leaving everyone behind, leaving Abhi behind wasn't easy. But she couldn't bear the same pain again. It took her more than one year to forget one night. She still hadn't forgotten the pain; it still hunt her in her dream. So, she had to take the risk even if it cost her life. She vowed to protect her babies at any cost.

"Why?" Alex murmured nearly inaudible.

"We were happy, Alex. When I found out I was pregnant, I was so excited. And when I told Abhi, the look on his face, the bright smile; he was so happy. I just can't ruin our happiness," he snorted, hearing her.

"Ruin happiness!" he spat. "Do you know how he was when you left? He was barely living, Rish. And you want to leave him again. Y-You want to le-leave us!" his voice croaked at last. He swallowed the unshaded tears which were threatening to break down.

"T-this t-ti-time it's different," she said, trying to convince him. It was more like she was convincing herself.

"How?" Alex mocked hurtfully.

"If something happens to me, my babies will be here. He will not be alone," Risha stated, taking a few deep breaths to calm herself down.

"You think he will be in a state to take care of your babies!" he raised his voice. Worry, anger and pain were lacing his face. Risha put a hand on his shoulder, making him slightly relax under her touch.

"You guys will be with him, right? And it's not like something must happen to me. See the positivity," Risha told him softly.

"Yeah. You..." Alex turned to face her, cupping her face with both of his hands, and looked straight into her eyes with his teary ones. "You have to keep your promise. You promised me you wouldn't leave me; you promised me you would be in my life. So you have to be. You can't break me every time, you can't break my heart whenever you want," he left the room as soon as those words came out of his mouth.

------------

After coming out of Risha's house, Alex went to a bar. He couldn't believe he was gonna lose the most important person in his life. He was suffocating in that house. The pain contracted his heart, making it hard to breathe. He needed to forget the torment even if it was only for a night. He continued to drink until he collapsed on the table.

"Sir. Excuse me, sir?" Alex heard someone call him gently. He hummed without raising his head from the table. "I am extremely sorry, sir. But we are closed for today. I can call a cab for you if you want," a waitress in her early twenties suggested softly.

"He is totally wasted. Why don't you come for us, beautiful? We can promise we will please you all night," a gang member said, coming toward her. She stepped back, and gulped in fear, but tried not to show it.
