Due to the countdown, the dark days started to appear more frequently. With a fortnight to go, I was instructed to give Elsa a brief lesson on the coronation ceremony itself. This was the second half of her training for the monarchy. There was only two main parts that she needed to know. The first was what to do when the bishop presented her with the tiara/crown. This was simple as I told her that all she had to do was bow down her head when the bishop held the crown up. The second part, however, was the harder part. She needed to hold the orb and sceptre in both her hands and turn to face the crowd gathered in the church. With the adrenaline flowing, the ice powers would be at the point where they were uncontrollable so she was likely to freeze up the jewels revealing the secret to all on looking. However this was only going to be a problem if she touched them, if she still wore her gloves then nothing would come of it. So, to make our lives both that little bit easier, I went to the bishop that had been assigned the job of coronating Elsa and asked him on behalf of Elsa if she could wear the gloves. "Elsa likes to wear her gloves most of the time and she was wondering whether or not she would be able to hold the orb and sceptre with them still on." This was what I asked to avoid telling him the real reason. He then replied with "certainly not, the whole point of the coronation is for the new blood to touch the royalty, gloves would prevent this so no!" When I told Elsa about this response, she looked straight at me, speechless. I swathe eyes looking, but nobody behind them. As she came round, all she did was raise up her hands a little and glance down at them. Still glancing, she gathered some words and said, "I can't do that." I could immediately tell that this was going to worry her, and to tell the truth, it worried me. Without showing my concerns for her, I said, "If you keep your mind on other things and ignore it, then nothing will happen." I then thought of an alternative example of something she could think about. Through what I said you could tell that I was on an off day for these sorts of conversations. My alternative was, "think of a gorilla eating a banana while doing a handstand instead." Elsa raised her head in confusion and looked at me funny before walking off shaking her head. I did manage to cheer her up on this day, but I got one thing from it; sometimes my own imagination scares me.
