The next day marked exactly one month until the coronation. I was once again called to John's office for yet more information regarding the coronation. This time, however, it was briefer as he was only awarding me with a beret for my new position. I graciously accepted it and thanked him with a wondrous smile. I then returned to the quarters. When I came in, I immediately went in to Elsa to show her the fine headwear. After I grabbed her attention, I bowed to show her the new beret. While I was still mid bow, she ran over and snatched it off my head and disappeared into her workshop with it, pulling over the sliding door behind her. I had not been expecting her to grab it so this took me by surprise. I was about to chase after her to retrieve it, but the fact that she shut the door for the first time gave me the impression that she was serious and not to be disturbed. I adhered to this and just went about my business and started the dinner off. About three quarters of an hour later, Elsa emerged with my hat (I will be calling it a hat as it is easier like that) from the workshop and sat for dinner. She had added a purple pattern to the plain dark green fabric. Over dinner, she explained herself, "the person who held the position before you for my parents had a pattern on their beret. It was plain black with a yellow and red pattern identical to what I have printed there. Also, my grandparents had the same concept. These were the royal colours of their reign. I have chosen my colours to be green and purple due to the fact that no one has had them before. So, I thought that it would be best if I kept up the tradition and made that beret up to standard." This was the first example that I saw of the seriousness and commitment she was giving the monarchy. Before I was worried for her, but now I knew that everything would be good for as long as she could keep the secret safe and sound. I replied by saying, "that was a very noble thing to do Elsa and I thank you for that. I hadn't a clue and I wouldn't want to ruin a tradition. You've made me feel guilty now for thinking that you were hiding the hat as you were jealous that I had a hat and you didn't!" At this, she sniggered before finally saying, "I wouldn't be caught wearing that for my life!"
