Enid
"Just...get dressed or whatever," Wednesday says, looking away from me.Oh my god. She has dimples. They're so cute. I resist the urge to touch her cheek.
"Yeah, yeah ok!" I respond, practically skipping out of the room and towards my bag.
"Good morning Enid." Mrs. Addams says cheerily.
"Good morning Mrs. Addams!"
"Oh please, call me Morticia." She smiles, folding her hands.
"Okay." I smile back.
Her mom is so nice. I don't know where Wednesday got her cold demeanor, it couldn't have been her father either.
I grab my bag and head to the bathroom after asking Morticia where it is.
It's not quite my taste, but there's a nice smell of cedar that reminds me of the trips my family would take. It smells like childhood. I quickly undress and turn the shower on, getting in after it isn't ice cold.
I start washing up, my mind wandering around Wednesday. It starts off normal, just thinking about her in the plane, at my house, in bed with me this morning. If I close my eyes I can imagine her holding me as we fall asleep, and suddenly my hands washing my shoulders and chest are hers...
Shit. No. Stop.
I open my eyes, the shampoo stinging in my eyes. I stand there, water falling on my head, my back. I squeeze my eyes shut. She stands in front of me, waiting for me to wash her hair, her back. My eyes shoot open again.
Stop it. Jesus, you're pathetic. She's finally opening up to you and you think about her like this? You're such a horrible friend.
"Enid?" Wednesday calls. The real one. Outside of the door. Not next to me.
"Uh- Yeah?!" I yell over the sound of the shower.
"Could you stay for the day? Ask your father? I can show you around the cabin."
"Yeah! That sounds great!"
Maybe it's best to push down all of this. Just, pretend none of it happened, right? I mean, she's a good friend, you can like her as a friend, right?
"Alright. My parents are making breakfast." Wednesday calls.
I finish up, drying myself off and picking out an outfit. In a few minutes I'm outside.
"Hey." I say, leaning on the doorway to the kitchen.
Pugsley is helping Mr. Addams make pancakes. Wednesday sits at the table, reading. She looks up.
"Hello."
"Pancakes? I didn't take your family for liking them."
"Yes well, you liked when they served them for breakfast at Nevermore so I offered the idea." She explains.
I smile.
"They're almost ready!" Mr. Addams announces.
I sit down across from Wednesday, taking a moment to admire the sun streaming through the window. When I look back Wednesday's eyes are plastered on me.
"What?" I ask.
"Nothing." She replies, looking down at her book again.
I shrug and pull out my phone.
