Guess who's back
20kkkk >:] Thanks you guysWednesday
Break was over. I hadn't been paying attention to the days ever since we had gotten back to our house. My days consisted of locking myself in my room and my nights consisted of taking long walks in the forest, staring at the moon.
Pugsley would knock on my door every so often, asking if I wanted to come out of my room and do something with him. Most of the time I just told him to go away. I didn't have the energy for threats.
Mother and Father often tried to make my favorite foods. I would go downstairs and eat a bit, then retreat to my room.
This was the moment I had been dreading. Going back. I had to go back, of course, to make sure Enid was safe, I knew, although part of me thought I was delusional in that sense. I had been the one causing her problems, after all.
Regardless, here I was, putting my bags in the trunk of the car. I was sure I hadn't packed that much, despite the fact I was struggling with them.
"Have you got them?" My mother asks, concern thick in her voice.
"Yes." I strain, pushing the last of the baggage into its spot.
"Alright. We'll be going now then, if you're all set."
I nod, not making any sign of moving toward the door.
My mother sighs quietly. Father and her have been asking me all month what had made me so upset. Of course, I hadn't told them anything. It isn't like me.
Neither is this. Of course, I was never lively, but I've never acted so depressed. Everyone is at a loss.
I swallow a bile that has formed in my throat and finally head to the car door.
There isn't much to be said about the car ride. I spend the time staring into space, my family's faces blurred into blotches of dull colors. They don't try to ask me anything. They know I won't give much of an answer besides yes, no, or a shrug.
When we get there my body is sore and tired. I try to pull out my luggage but I trip and stumble from the weight, tipping over but catching myself before I hit the pavement.
"Oh no." My father mumbles, looking at my mother.
"I'm fine," I state, eyes droopy.
"Here. Can you manage this?" Pugsley asks, handing me my small backpack.
I nod, cheeks getting warm from embarrassment. I hate this.
"We'll bring your luggage to your room. Don't worry." My father says, in his cheerful manner.
I can tell it's forced.
We walk to the front door where a woman wearing a red dress greets students as they enter. She wears her brown long hair pulled into a tight ponytail that looks like it's slowly pulling off her scalp.
"Oh hello! You're Wednesday, aren't you? I'm the new principle! I hope to have a wonderful year with you! Do you need any he-"
"Good for you," I mumble, walking past her.
I hear my parents apologizing behind me as I walk to the stairs leading to my dorm, but I really don't care. I didn't come here to pretend I have any ounce of respect for the principle. No one has that amount of genuine energy and joy. Except maybe...
"Oh my god Yoko, you don't even know! You have to see it, it's literally the cutest thing ever!" Says a certain blonde werewolf, practically jumping up and down.
"I doubt your new Squishmallow is going to make me combust." The dark-haired vampire sighs, putting air quotes on the last word.
"I swear, it will. It's got these cute little ears and... oh."
Enid stops in her tracks, staring at me. I look down at the ground.
"I'll leave you two alone." Yoko snickers.
"It's not like that." Enid mumbles, but Yoko is too far to hear.
An uncomfortable silence fills the space around us. At last, I swallow and look up.
"I can request a different room if you want." I offer quietly.
"No! I mean, you don't have to. Like if you want to you can obviously do that but like... yeah." Enid stutters.
I just nod, not knowing what to say.
"Well... I'll leave you to it!" She awkwardly says, stepping away from the door.
"Yeah."
"Enid!" My mother shouts from behind me.
"Oh! Um, hi!"
My mother wraps Enid in a tender hug, making the whole situation worse.
"That's enough," I say, exasperated.
Mother pulls back, looking at me.
"Um, I'm gonna go. Nice to see you though." Enid murmurs.
As she walks away Father asks,
"What was that, my storm cloud?"
"Nothing. I just want to sleep." I reply.
"Alright, dear," Mother says.
They put my stuff in my room and bid me farewell.
"Don't forget the crystal ball."
"I hope you feel better soon."
"We love you."
The voices fade together as I begin to become even more sleepy.
"Goodbye," I say, and soon after, they leave.

In awoken by sounds in my ear.
"Wednesday. Wednesday, wake up."
I grumble and turn to see Enid with a concerned look on her face. Why is she concerned? Why is she even talking to me?
"You've been sleeping for like almost twenty-four hours."
"Oh," I say.
She scratches the back of her neck, saying,
"Just thought I'd wake you up."
My vision becomes clear and I see that she's wearing a pink v-neck dress that drapes around her body perfectly.
"You look... I mean, why are you wearing that?" I mutter, trying to keep my eyes on her face.
"It's the dinner, remember? Are you gonna go?" She asks, a red appearing on her cheeks.
"No. Um, have fun." I say awkwardly, my eyes on the ground.
"Thanks. You too. I mean, yeah. Bye."
I watch as she leaves, my eyes trailing her dress as a weird feeling burns in my chest.
What the fuck was that?
