Chapter ten

Jay's pov: They told me to wait in the waiting room. I had no idea what was happening. They rushed Hailey to the o.r. since that i haven't heard anything. I saw an another ambo arrive to med. They were bringing Clark. That son of a bitch is still alive? Not long after that the team arrived. I widh i could tell them what is happening but i didn't now myself. We sat down to the waiting area. Hours passed and still we haven't heard anything from Hailey. I started to fear the worst. Then a doctor came to us and asked if we are family of Hailey's. Hailey's surgery was now over and she was stable for now and they were taking her to intensive care unit. She had a gun shot to the stomach, dislocated knee, few fractured ribs and multiple bruises and cuts. I was so relieved to hear that she was still alive. We couldn't visit her just yet, but they would come and tell us when we can. We sat back down and Kim and Adam went to get us something to eat. After an hour the nurse came and told that we could visit her now but only a few person at time. Me and Voight went first. She was laying on the bed looking so peaceful. They had cleaned her face but still she was full of bruises and cuts. I sat next to her bed and took her hand. She was still unconscious. Me and Voight stayed there for a while. When time for us to leave came, i just couldn't left her there. I won't leave her alone, never again. I would look after her, i would keep her safe. Voight left the room and i stayed there with Hailey. Adam, Kim and Kev cam also visit her one at a time. Once they all visited her they headed back to the station to close the case. If Clark will pull throw that gun shot and a surgery, then he will spent the rest of his live in prison.

Two days had passed and Hailey was still unconscious, the doctors told me that she should start waking up soon. I went to the cafeteria to crab something fast to eat, then i headed back to Hailey's room. I sat down to the bench where i had spent the last few days. I took Hailey's hand, her hand was so soft and warm. "Hailey honey, i know you have been throw hell, but i need you to wake up" I said and stroked her head. Then i felt a little squeeze in my hand. I looked at her hand, i wasn't sure did she just do that or am i just imagining things. "Hailey, squeeze my hand if you can hear me. Then it happened again, i weak little squeeze. I ran to her rooms door and yelled for a doctor to come. Then i ran back to her side. She was trying to open her eyes. The doctor came and walked next to Hailey's bed. "Hailey, if you can hear me, open your eyes." Then Hailey slightly opened her eyes. "Good morning Hailey, don't be scared you are in a hospital." Doctor said. "How are you feeling Hailey?" doctor added. "i've been better" Hailey answered quietly.

Hailey's pv:
I woke up when i heard someone talking to me and helding my hand. I tried to squeeze that hand but i didn't have much strenght to do so. "Hailey, squeeze my hand if you can hear me" I gave him another little squeeze. I tried to open my eyes to see who was in the room with me. It was Jay. He was looking at me filled with joy. Her ran to the door snd then returned with a doctor. Doctor asked me many question. Answering was a little difficult because my throat felt so dry. I could only whisper. "How are you Hailey" He asked. "i've been better" i aswered. "Can you remember what has happened. I thinked about it for a while. "well not everything" i said. "Okay, do you know where you are" he asked. i looked around. "Is this Chicago med?" i guessed. "Yes, it is. Then who is this guy that has been sitting next to you refusing to leave." He asked. I looked at Jay and smiled, he was tearing up. "Jay" I said. "Great, sorry for all these questions, but have hit your head pretty hard. I will now leave you two alone for a while. We will come see you later." He said and left the room. I looked at Jay as he was crying. "Jay you don't need to cry, i'm okay" I sad looking at him. He leaned to my and gave me a hug "Don't ever scare me like this again." He said. "Ow Jay too tight" I said hurting as he was squeezing so hard. "Oh i'm sorry." He said and eased his grip. "i'm so happy that you are okay" He said. I didn't feel that much pain at this moment, it must be because of those painmeds. "Jay..." i asked. "Yeah, what" He said and sat back up. "did you get him?" i asked meaning Clark. "Yes Hailey, he going away for the rest of his life." Jay answered. "What about those girls, did you find them" i asked. "Yes Hailey, they all got home safely." Jay said. That was relieving to hear. "When can i go home" i asked. "I'm not sure, but it will take a whlie for you to fully recover." Jay said. "what injuries i had?" i asked. "Well, Clark shot you to your stomach, then your knee was dislocated, you had a few fractured ribs and lot of bruises and cuts." Jay answers. "Oh, that knee was kind of my fault. I jumped out of a moving vehicle when i tried to escape." I said. "No Hailey no, none of this is your fault. Do you understand?" Jay said looking at me with a serious face. "Yeah" i said. Me and Jay continued talking. At some point the doctor came back to take some tests. Doctor said that i would have to spend weeks in the hospital and then it would be a long way to rehabilitate my knee. I don't know how i can lay here still so long. I feel like i should be helping the team. But stil i was grateful to be a live and having Jay next to me.

    A week has passed. The team has been visiting me a few times and of course Jay has been here the whole time. I tried to tell him that i can handle here on my own, but still he has refused to leave my side. I'm still in bedrest. I'm so bored here i just wanna go home already. The pain is still there, but it's getting easier. "Jay you know i think the team would really appreciate you help at work." i said jokingly. "i bet they would, but Hailey i'm not leaving, you are not getting rid of me." He said smiling. "Can you please get us something to eat, i can't eat this hospital food anylonger" i asked. "yeah i can, but i won't be long. Call me immediatly if something comes up. Hailey i mean it" He saids demanding. "Yeah yeah i will, just go before i starve" i said laughing.
