Part 7: Making An Impression

Arriving At Barca Training Ground:

Alexia parks the car at the training ground. I'm so nervous. "You ready to meet the team?" She asks. "Yeah, just nervous you know. I just want to be able to fit in the with team." I say nervously. "Hey, it's going to be ok. I already told Mapi and Patri you're arriving, so they want to see you first before you see the rest of the girls." She says with reassurance. I nod and get of the car to go to the locker room with Alexia doing same just behind me. Alexia walks us to the locker room and I take a big breath before entering. Here goes nothing.

I walk inside and see only two other with Alexia and I in the room. They are already dressed for training. The woman with tattoos looks me and says, "You must be Megan Cardona. I'm Mapi. We've already heard a lot about you from Alexia." She gives me a hug and I hug her back. While she's doing so, Yeah, that's me." I say nervously with a blush. Alexia just smiles at our exchange.

I like it when she looks at me.

"Oh my god! You look cuter in person that what Alexia said." The other girl says. I blush a deep scarlet red and Alexia does the same. She called me cute to describe me? "Where are my manners? I'm Patri by the way." She shakes my hand rapidly and I feel like it's going to detach from my body, while Alexia and Mapi just laugh at our interaction. "Patri, don't break the poor girl. We can't have La Princesa injured right now." Mapi says laughing. "Ok, sorry. I'm just happy to meet our new signing." Patri says, letting go of my hand.

Damn that girl has a strong grip. "It's fine. I'm just nervous to meet everyone." I say to the 3 people in the room. "You're going to be fine, kid. They'll love you, I guarantee it. If not then they'll have to face Alexia, Patri, and I." Mapi says with a smile. The rest of the two nod at her statement. This is already better than how I started out at City. "Thanks. I just can't wait for training to start." I say.

Then the doors open and a whole lot of people walk in, I can tell they are both players and staff. I see Jon too and I give him a wave and waves back. All of the team looks at me, as if they are trying to read me. Jon then walks besides me and brings me over to room where I can see everyone. "Damas y caballeros, les presento a nuestro nuevo fichaje, Megan Cardona. Si no sabes quién es, entonces si sabes el nombre, la princesa, esta es ella. Quiero que la hagas sentir segura y que la recibas con los brazos abiertos." (Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you our new signing, Megan Cardona. If you don't know who she is then if you know the name, the princess, this is her. I want you to make her feel safe and to welcome her with open arms.)
Jon says as if there will be no objections. I blush and say, "Hola." Everyone says some sort of response of welcome and hello. I already feel like this is going to be better than my last club.

"Sé que muchos de ustedes quieren hacerle preguntas, pero eso será después de la práctica. Habrá una sesión de unión de equipo con ella. Tampoco tiene problemas para hablar español y catalán, pero prefiere el inglés. Bien, la práctica de todos comienza en 15 minutos. Te veré en la cancha." (I know many of you want to ask her questions, but that'll be after practice. There'll be a team bonding session with her. She also has no problem with speaking Spanish and Catalan, but she prefers English. Ok, Everyone practice starts in 15 minutes. I'll see you on the pitch.) He leaves the room with the staff following close behind.

Everyone turns their attention to getting their practice kits on. Mapi, Patri, Alexia, and I already have ours on, so we just head over to the field. I look around with a big smile on my face. "I don't think I've ever seen someone so happy for training." Patri joked. I chuckle and say, "I'm just happy I'm getting to play for this team." While talking I keep my eyes on Alexia stretching with Mapi. "Looks like someone has a crush on el nostre capità. (Our captain.) Patri says to me. I blush and say, "I have no idea what you're talking about." Patri just laughs at my lie.
