My father made his way to the kitchen as well, stumbling on his feet. Whenever it was his birthday he was allowed extra drinks and extra sleep the morning after, the hungover on his face telling me he did in fact that. He shook hands with Yunho manly way, while taking a seat next to me.
"Your mother and I will drive grandma to her friend later for her usual Sunday coffee and biscuits. We're stopping at the church on our way to help the pastor with the annual summer service. What plans do the three of you have today?" He said chewing on a piece of bacon lazily.
"The three of us?" I widened my eyes at him "Yes. You, Yunho and Seonghwa" My dad said casually. "I'm not taking this-this cockroach with me!" I scoffed gesticulating towards the very own devil next to me.
"Jia, that's not nice" My mom who was washing the dishes said, not even sparing a glance at me "And I think it's a really good idea for you to spend some time together today. Go out, show Yunho the city. Try and have fun for a few hours" She approached me wiping her hands on her apron, kissing the top of my head.
I started puffing my cheeks in and out, throwing daggers with my eyes at Seonghwa who just sent a flying kiss in my direction. This bitch.

Close to lunch time we made our way to the park for a picnic, buying a few snacks from the convenience store on our way there. The car ride was silent overall, Seonghwa making the only noise apart from the slow radio tunes. "Do you even know how to drive?" "No you don't, that was a red light right there you passed" "JiJi you're so dumb" bla bla bla.
I stepped on the brake a few times whenever I felt him breathing on my neck, his head hitting the chair in the process. We were now seated on a blanket, hiding ourselves under the shadow of a tree, so that my dear cousin, not, doesn't get wrinkly from the radiations of the sun, as he said. I was leaning with my back against the tree trying to focus my attention on the magazine I was reading. With the corner of my eyes I was peeking at a the two males chitchatting about who knows what because I couldn't even focus or care about that.
"So, Yunho-" I heard Seonghwa opening a bag of chips, crunching on them "What exactly do you do in Seoul?"
Ah, hell nah.
"What exactly do you mean?" I heard Yunho as I tossed my magazine away scooting closer to them. "Like, do you work? Study? What do you do in general?" He raised his eyebrows at him skeptically. "I live with Jia" He said casually, while I chocked on air and Seonghwa on his chips.
"What? Together? You and her?" His eyes widened pointing between the two off us "What he means is that he's staying with me for a few days while his apartment gets-uhm-renovated. Its been flooded a few days ago because of an issue with the bathroom" Slow beads of sweat started forming on my forehead as he shook his head disapprovingly.
"Wow" That was the most sarcastic wow I've ever heard as he was narrowing his eyes at me "And do you like it here? I guess its different than your life back in the States, right?" He quirked his brow at him. I saw Yunho fidgeting with his fingers, a habit I noticed he had whenever he was feeling uncomfortable. I looked at him, a subtle smile tugging its way up my lips, trying to assure him that everything is fine.
"Yes, it's-uhm-different. But I like it here so far. Sad that I'll have to go back home soon" He almost whispered with sadness in his eyes. "Why?" Seonghwa kept pushing him "I don't belong here" He said slowly tilting his head to the ground.
Seonghwa opened his mouth to say something else when I punched his arm and clenched my jaw at him, mouthing a stop it under my breath that only he could read on my lips. He rolled his eyes standing up, wiping his hands on his way too skinny jeans.
"Let's go feed the ducks" He said grabbing a small bag with dried bread. Probably the one we kept tossing at each other yesterday. "Finally, something smart comes out of your mouth after twenty five years. I see some progress cousin" I said straightening myself, slapping his nape while he tug my hair and ran away "Come back here you idiot!" I stroked my head running after him, grabbing my shoes in the process. I'm about to chancla his ass.
In my chase after the devil, I haven't noticed Yunho standing there on the blanket alone, looking at us with a pained smile on his face before standing up and joining us.
We were standing at the edge of the lake throwing bread in the water for the duckies when I suddenly realized. Twenty five years. Seonghwa was in the distance bickering with a swan that kept biting his hand in an attempt to steal the crumbs out of his hands. I leaned closer to Yunho looking at him up and down.
"Yunho" I cleared my a throat "How old are you?" My voice was nothing higher than a whisper to which he sighed, smiling. "Old" He tossed a handful of crumbs in the water "Really old" He turned to face me, crossing his hands to his chest.
I nodded my head lazily pretending to understand, when in fact my mind was fogged. Was he immortal? Did he always looked like this, or is just an appearance? Does he look like I want it to? What's it like being him? What's it like living up there? I felt myself and my mind flooded with all these sudden questions and he seemed to notice as his hand reached mine.
"I'll explain everything you need to know, Jia. For now, allow me to be twenty five years old" He whispered pulling me close to his chest in a hug. I widened my eyes, my heart rushing out of my chest, as I sighed wrapping my hands around his waist.
My body was involuntary attracted to his like a magnet, and I wasn't even complaining because right now, I this position, I allowed myself to be a normal girl in the arms of a boy caressing her hair.
