Back in Beauxbatons, I had a... crush, let's just say that. His name was Luc Dubois, he was tall, had brown hair and blue eyes. We were close-ish friends, not besties but just friends.
He always called me Peanut, I didn't know why, but it was a nickname he gave me, so I was happy regardless. But Luc transferred away in the middle of second year, and I haven't heard that nickname since.
But now someone else called me that same nickname, it surprised me. And it was Malfoy out of all people too? If this goes on, I wouldn't be able to say that I don't like him so easily anymore.

It's been a week now and Malfoy's still avoiding me. Why is he even avoiding me? I didn't do anything. As much as I hate it, I've been trying to get Malfoy to talk to me again.
After classes, I would be trying to get his attention. I tried blocking his way, straight up trying to talk to him, interrupting his conversations, everything. But he always just walked past me as if I didn't exist.
But what am I even doing? I was the one avoiding him first, shouldn't I be delighted right now? But what is he trying to do anyway? Ever since that night, he hasn't looked at me, talked to me, or even acknowledge my existence.
"Blaaaaise," I whined when walking to lunch with Blaise. He looked at me and raised an eyebrow, waiting for me to continue.
"Malfoy keeps avoiding me, it's getting annoying." I complained loudly, knowing that he's right behind me. I wanted him to hear me.
"What am I supposed to do with that? I'm not besties with him." Blaise responds.
"Whatever, I just wanted to complain for someone to hear," I said, looking back at Malfoy, who met eyes with me for the first time for what seemed like an eternity. He rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, you like him, don't even try to lie, it's obvious as hell." Blaise said, loud enough for Malfoy to hear.
"You like me?" He blurted out, shocked.
I turned around and stood in front of him. "No, why the hell would I like someone like... you. Don't be ridiculous. Plus, that's your first words to me after that night?"
Malfoy's eyes focused on mine, probably to see whether or not I'm lying. He softened his gaze, "I was going to be surprised that a Potter likes me, but I guess Blaise was just starting some rumors."
He lowered himself to my level and the corner of his mouth formed a smile. "You passed the test, congrats." I raised an eyebrow. Huh?
"What test...? What's going on?" I was flabbergasted, all the avoiding was because of some sort of... test? What test is he even going on about?
"Well," Malfoy started as he stood up straight again, "I kinda had a bet with Parkinson. Eh, I'll tell you tonight during the tutor session." He walked away.
...The fuck?
--
"Did you know about this?" I asked Blaise as we sat down to eat.
He gave me a guilty look, "Draco told me to not tell you no matter what, and I promised so..."
I sighed, "What's the bet about then? Surely you can tell me now."
"Pansy said that if Draco avoided you, you wouldn't give a fuck. But Draco said that you'd be desperate. Which you kiiinda were." Blaise said as he reached for a pastry.
I raised an eyebrow, "Did I seem that desperate?"
"Yes actually, why else did you think I thought you liked Draco?"
"True, but what'd they even bet over?"
"That I don't know. You're gonna have to ask Draco or Pansy yourself."
--
"Hey Peanut Potter, good job on being desperate." Malfoy said as I entered the room. I hate to admit it, but Peanut Potter is quite creative.
I rolled my eyes at his comment, "Anyway, what'd you two bet over? Money?"
"No, I don't need nor want her filthy money," Malfoy frowned at my question.
"Then what?" I asked as I sat next to him.
"If I win, she's staying far away from me but if she wins, I have to date her." I couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"You were really risking your love life there," I continued laughing, "I was actually considering to never even look at you anymore."
"I was just certain that you'll be desperate," Malfoy said, flipping through the homework assignments for the past week, "Dang you didn't do a single question right, you really do need me, huh?"
I flushed red at his remark, "Shut up and just try and teach me already."

I swear I'm definitely making the pace too fast I'm sorryyyy
