Confusion

Chapter 4

My head was covered in blood. What had happened? The bed post lay on the floor next to me, little to my knowledge. My eyesight was fuzzy and my head was banging in pain. I attempted to sit up, my arms collapsing under my weight. I remained on the floor for what felt like some minutes before I tried again, failing once more. The clouds in my eyes had started to clear, and in the distance I could just make out a figure contrasting the white, brown hair and black clothing. I struggled to sit upright and knocked the pole lying next to me sending it flying into the wall beside me. The clanging noise it made as it hit the wall rang through my head, causing me to yelp in pain. I tried to cover my ears as the vibrations continued to shake me. I rolled onto my back trying to escape the sound that hurt me so greatly. I was weak, and could no longer move through physical tiredness. My vision began to distort again as the figure of the man reappeared to me, this time, much closer as if he was looking down on me. I felt my eyes flicker and was consumed into the darkness once more.

The regular hustle and bustle continued outside the ward. I lay in the same bed once again, the central window blinds shut this time. It must have been about 3am, the street lights gently illuminating the room. The orange glow cast along the floor lit up the empty chair next to my bed. How lonely i felt. Nobody had visited me in ages, friends, family, not even my parents. I always ask the nurse after them, to which she returns an awkward smile and tells me they'll visit soon. I long to see their faces again, her gentle smile, his reassuring squeeze of the hand. Now i needed it more than ever, where are they?? A single tear rolled down my left cheek. I had been emotionally drained as well as physically. All i can do is dream of them for now.
