Chapter 21
The door easily swung open and on the other side over a dozen pairs of eyes fell on myself and Will. He led me into the room, his grip on my hand tightened but not uncomfortably. I followed him into the room and shut the door behind me. All of the others were clustered on this end of the room, so Rory must be at the other. I felt Will come up behind me and whisper in my ear.
"You'll be shocked when you look at Rory, but he brought it on himself, remember that," he warned me. I didn't hesitate to take his hand and gripped it tightly. My breathing accelerated as I turned to face the monster. He was battered and bruised, great cuts embedded in his flesh. He was restrained by his arms being chained above his head.
"Those are reinforced Ronnie, he shouldn't escape," Rheynold assured me. I held up the barostaff to show him I was protected. He gave me a reassuring nod. My breathing remained frantic as Rheynold began the court session.
"We are gathered here tonight to decide the fate of Rory Marcus Rheynold, who I am very disappointed to name as my son," Rheynold began. Despite this insult Rory looked spaced out, guilty perhaps? My gaze kept awkwardly flitting around the room, trying to avoid Rory's gaze. He was being 'charged' with inflicting harm and raping a human, i.e. me. When the questions began, I started paying attention. The first question was asked by Rheynold.
"What on earth possessed you son?" he asked. Rory began to snigger at his father. My blood literally began to boil. He disgraced very single one of us here.
"She deserved it," he chuckled. His glare at me became intense, not even blinking anymore. I wasn't embarrassed, how could he say that? Will could sense my anger I'm sure, if he can read my thoughts then so could Rory. Will's grip tightened even further, starting to become painful, but I refused to look away. I was standing my ground, stubborn as a rock, I convinced myself.
"She is human," he continued, "And therefore she deserved it," he sniggered. How I wanted to smack that smirk off his face, I honestly don't know how I contained myself.
"I never brought you up to think that!" Rheynold bellowed.
"You didn't, but then again since when did I pay attention to you?" Rory slithered. "Mum was a million times the person you are".
"How dare you say that?" I screamed at him. I shook myself of Will's grip, although in reality I think he let me go.
"He is your Father, and you treat him with respect," I spat. I was stood right in front of him now, my face barely centimetres from his.
"He is scum, just like you," he grunted. I couldn't contain my anger anymore. My hand made contact with his face, leaving a red mark. In reality it hurt me more than him but I needed to prove I wasn't a pushover. I stepped back from him, shaking my hand as if the pain would melt into thin air. I turned to Rheynold.
"Sorry, but he deserved that!" I apologised as I glared at him.
"As much as you deserved what I did to you?" Rory sniggered.
"At least I didn't earn it," I grunted. Will had stepped forward and stood directly behind me. He took my left hand in his and whispered gently in my ear.
