Chapter 19
A car door slam woke me suddenly. Ever since the attack I was so jumpy, I just couldn't relax. I had been sleeping in the chair since about four this morning. It was now 11:16am. Will was sound asleep, he hadn't moved since he fell asleep 6 hours ago. I stood up quickly, gently pulling back the curtain to avoid attention. My heart skipped a beat as a pair of cold hard stare returned my curiousity.
"Will," I called. No response. I became more panicky.
"Will!" I yelled. I held my breath waiting for him to respond. I looked back to the car. Rory was gone. Where was he? I quickly fumbled in my pocket. It was stuck. I ran to the bedside.
"Will Rory is here!" I screamed down his ear. Still no response. What was wrong with him? I fumbled around in my pocket and pulled the alarm out, just as his voice echoed in my ears.
"Ronnie," he whispered. He was right in front of me, about five feet away. I swapped the alarm to my right hand behind my back. I looked sheepishly at the floor. I strategically pulled the barostaff out of my pocket and gripped it tightly. My fingers must have been yellow, but I didn't care. I was so scared.
"What are you doing in here?" he asked gently, glancing at Will. I looked up at him. I fumbled in my hand for the alarm's button. My thumb hovered over it, ready to jab it if he attacked. I should have already sounded it. Questions, that's what I was filled with. I wanted answers.
"Just watching Will," I responded. Rory tilted his head to the side.
"So you haven't missed me then, moving on already are we?" he hissed. This can't be good. I extended my peft arm forward and opened the barostaff.
"Don't come near me!" I threatened, twizzling it about.
Rory lept towards me and i responded by jabbing him in the stomach. He fell to the floor grasping his open wound. What do I do? I began to tremble in fear. I couldn't think. My grasp on both the staff and the alarm tightened. The edges of the alarm dug into my palm.
The alarm! Of course! I pressed the button and it began to screech throughout the foundations of the house. Rory shot at me and held me by the neck against the wall. I dropped the barostaff and was pressed harder into the wall. Rory was angry, his grip tightening around my neck. I looked to Will in hope, but I was disappointed. I swapped hands, feeling the alarm in my left hand.
"Shut that thing up!" Rory grunted, "And I won't hurt you!" i gasped for breath as he isolated by oxygen supply.
"You already have," I retorted. I concentrated all my energy on the alarm. I chucked it at Will, aiming for his head. I flung it out of my fingers and managed to hit him in the face. Rory watched as the alarm flew through the air. He dropped me trying to prevent it reaching his target unsuccessfully. I gasped for breath and reached for the barostaff. I dragged myself to my knees and hit Rory in the back of the knee. He fell to the floor, writhing in pain. Good, I thought. Rheynold and Will had mentioned sedating Rory once he returned, and all the vampires carried a sedation kit depending on who was around me. Will still hadn't woken up. I ran to the bedside and did what I could instinctively.
"Sorry Will," I apologised as I raised my fist and jabbed him in the side. His eyes shot open in pain and they fell on me instantly.
"What was that for?" he snarled. I picked up the rape alarm, still sounding next to him.
