I open the door and my mum is standing by the window as if she was waiting for me."You okay?" I ask her.
Her head quickly turns to me, I'm guessing she was just daydreaming or something.
"Yeah, sorry I was waiting for you, I have some exciting news," she says smiling.
"What is it?" I ask now sort of excited.
"Well, I know how you hated moving away from Chelsea, but now one of your friends is moving here, so you won't be alone, and they're enrolling at your school." She tells me enthusiastically.
"I'm guessing it's Chloe?" I ask raising an eyebrow.
"How do you know?" She looks a mixture of shocked and confused and I try not to laugh.
"She text me earlier when I was round James's." I tell her.
"Well, she starts tomorrow and you're in similar classes." She says.
"Cool, it will be nice to have one of my old friends back." I reply. "How come she got in so soon?" I ask curiously.
"I think her parents are close friends with one of the senior staff members there," she tells me.
"Oh, that makes sense then." I reply and continue to kick my shoes off and go upstairs.
"Wait, we need to talk about that hickey." My mum shots after me as I begin to run up the stairs.
"We don't need to talk about anything." I shout back.
"Well I want to meet this boy," she continues to yell.
"Go next door then." I mumble as I walk into my room so she can't here.
*****************
As my clock tells me it's 10:30 pm I grab my phone and go to put it on charge, I check my messages and see one from Brad and one from Chloe again.
Chloe-
I'll see you tomorrow, at school, just like back in London.Brad-
Nice hickey by the way, see you tomorrow. XxI laugh lightly at Brads text, I'd sort of forgotten about it. I turn my phone off and decide to sleep, as I don't want to be grumpy tomorrow.
I let my thoughts take over and keep thinking about Brad over and over. I wonder if we ever become anymore than we are now. I have a bad feeling about Chloe, but I've always felt threatened by her, because she's like the improved version of me, but I always get jealous to easy.
*****************
I wake and change into what I usually wear for sixth form, but this time I've gone for blue jeans, and a simple black crop top followed by my usual bag, shoes and makeup. I never really change anything up, I like to be simple. I grab a cardigan invade I get cold and wait for Brad, if he's taking me today, it might be James, I have no idea. After ten minutes there's a knock and I go to answer it revealing Brad.
"Hey, I'm still taking you in, right?" He asks.
"Um, yeah I'll text James, incase he comes." I tell him and grab my bag walking out and following him to his car.
"Okay, well I wanted to talk," he says.
"Oh, sure." I reply and get in the passenger seat of his car.
"It was just if you wanted to go to see that new film that came out, San Andreas I think it's called. No one will go and see it with me, so I was wondering if you wanted to come?" He asks whilst starting the car.
"Actually I really wanted to see that as well, when do you want to go?" I reply.
"I've got tickets for tonight." He says concentrating on the road.
"How were you so sure I'd say yes?" I ask joking and trying to suppress a smile.
"I just guess I'm a very optimistic person." He replies grinning.
"Very," I say and instantly change subject. "You know my friend from my old school is starting today." I tell him.
"That was quick, you haven't even been here for a week." He says a little surprised.
"Her names Chloe and yeah." I trail off.
"Do you like her?" He asks.
"Yeah," I reply a little offended.
"You didn't seem so sure," he says.
"Well I haven't seen her in a while." I tell him, thinking that that should be enough of an excuse.
"What a few days?" He asks smirking.
"Well, maybe I'm just nervous then or something, I don't know." I give in.
"Don't worry if she's a bitch we're all here for you." He says reassuringly.
"Thanks," I reply.
We arrive at school and I walk with Brad into the sixth form area as we usually do every morning and that's when I see the back of her head, and my anxiety rises at the pit of my stomach, I still don't have a good feeling about this.
She sits with James and after a few seconds of James acknowledging my presence he tells her and she gets up and walks over to me.
"Oh my god, Hannah it's been like a lifetime I've missed you so much." She says over enthusiastically and brings me into a really tight hug, like she usually did.
She lets go of me and is still smiling and continues to talk.
"You know our old school hasn't been the same without you, I didn't want to leave London at first like you, but then I thought that if I moved with my family I'd be able to get my best friend back, so here I am." She still has that overly happy tone in her voice.
She hasn't changed much, but she couldn't possibly have within the space of five days, but she's still perfect like before. Perfectly tame brown hair, perfectly skinny, perfect face, perfect fucking everything and I stand here feeling like a tramp stood next to her.
She always dresses so preppy it's unbelievable, black skinny jeans, mint green chiffon top and a small fitted white blazer paired with a designer bag and shoes.
"Why aren't you saying anything?" She frowns messing with my hair, like she usually did then would say she's trying to 'fix it'.
"I'm just sort of surprised and shocked that you're even here." I tell her.
"Is that in a good way or bad way?" She asks looking worried.
"No, in a good way, it's just strange." I say and try to smile without looking like an idiot. "I still haven't got used to how well put together you are." I say and silently laugh, and she joins in awkwardly.
"It's okay, it's just as strange for me to, but I know that we definitely need to go shopping together again and we can get some matching outfits again, like last time, when I had pink and you had blue." She says starting to get excited again.
I'm not going shopping with her, I don't want to be a mini her again, that was not fun, and took so much time.
"So who are these?" She asks looking over to Brad, Molly and Leah who look at Chloe as shocked as I did when I first saw her.
"I'm Brad, it's nice to meet you." He says. "And this is Molly and Leah." He introduces them and they say hi quietly.
This is the quietest I've ever seen Molly and Brad before, and they're usually the loud ones. I've decided to put this moment on one of the most awkward moments of my life, but hopefully things get back to normal, and soon.
