Chapter 11: Homecoming and a Wrench
Low
What the hell is wrong with me?
Seth is sitting across the cafeteria with a blonde practically laying on his lap. Normally, I have a feeling that I might be jealous, but he is not paying attention to her at all. Instead he is glaring at me like I am doing something wrong. I’m trying to pay attention to Micah who is talking next to me, but my brain is wandering. I have to force myself to keep my eyes on Micah’s face and not shift my focus over to Seth.
He was pissed off in class this morning and I have absolutely no idea why. I was hoping that after this weekend, we might be able to get along more, but that didn’t happen.
Oh god . . . this weekend.
I can feel my face heat up when I remember how Seth hugged me yesterday. My mind shifts to him, coming out of the water, and how I ran a finger down his abs. I shiver and my mind wanders off to memories about this weekend.
“Low?”
“Hmm?”
Micah looks at me expectantly.
“I asked you what you were doing this weekend?”
“Oh,” my face heats up with embarrassment at getting caught zoning out. Here I am sitting with a guy who is cute, nice, I admit a little corny, but he actually likes me! Yet, I cannot get my stupid brain to stop thinking about Seth.
God, I swear that there is something wrong with me.
Micah smiles at me sadly.
“How is Seth doing?” he asks me.
“What do you . . .”
The knowing look on his face makes me shut up.
“I see how you keep looking at him out of the corner of your eye.” I scoff at him.
“I am not!”
“It’s okay to like him Low.”
“I don’t like him!”
His gaze at me clearly says that I am being stupid and actin like an idiot. I let my head fall into my hands.
“I am so confused,” I sigh quietly, more to myself than to Micah. He chuckles next to me, so I glare at him. He just gives me another sad smile.
“Look, I have had a crush on you forever.”
“W-what?”
He holds up his hand to stop me and continues.
“I always knew that sooner or later something was going to happen between the two of you. I mean, the way that you guys fight proves how much you guys should be together.” I must have looked completely dumbfounded at this point because he laughs. “You guys argue and prank each other all the time. If you didn’t care about each other, you guys wouldn’t even try to give the other such a hard time.
“When I saw you fall into Seth the other day at lunch, I knew that you guys were finally getting closer to liking each other, so I decided to help and move things along.”
“Okay, hold up a second! I am completely confused. You are trying to set Seth and I up even though you like me?”
Micah nods.
