Intermission

Lauri stood on the top of the HQ with Seje and Kayla.

"We practiced for this," she reassured them,"We'll be okay."

"We practiced for killing titans also, but that didn't work out so well," Seje commented."

Several of the other trainees leapt off the castle and toward the back of the city. Lauri turned to face them. Their destination was the North Gate, after the trainees resupplied they were supposed to climb Wall Rose into the town North of Trost.

Their resupply had been delayed, but it was worked out. All that was left was to make sure everyone got halfway across the city without dying.

"How hard could it be? It is not like we're flying toward the titans this time," Kayla stated.

"I hope you are right, Kayla," Lauri responded, "Now let's go."

Lauri leapt off of the building alongside Seje and Kayla. She could feel the wind blowing her hair around as she fell. just before Lauri hit the ground, she caught herself by shooting two hooks into buildings across from her. She felt the ropes tighten, and lock in place.

Seje veered around her to the left, doing a flip in the air as he came over a building. He straightened himself up and fired a hook into the top of a tower.
With a burst of gas, he flew off far ahead of Lauri and Kayla.

Lauri looked back toward the street she was flying down, no titans in sight. She knew that Kayla was somewhere behind her, that's what they practiced.
In Trainee Camp, Kayla, Seje, and Lauri would go out into the forest during maneuver practice. Once the mock titan hunting started, the three practiced a formation to make sure no titans surprised them.

Seje would always be in front of them, spotting the titans, and killing them if he could. Kayla would be in the back, making sure they didnt miss any titans. Lauri would be in the middle ready to kill titans that Seje didn't.

The plan came in handy and seemed to work. Lauri watched as Seje took out a titan that tried to grab him. He swung toward the neck and spun around it quickly. They were only about 100 meters from the Gate now.

Lauri looked at Seje spin around a tower and fly upwards until he hooked the wall. She then released her hooks and raised her arms up. She leaned back and fired two hooks up into towers, applying a ridiculous amount of gas. Lauri flew very high into the air, and onto the top of the wall.

Lauri jogged across the width of the wall before she jumped off the side away from Trost. She shot a hook and began to lower herself onto a rooftop.
She looked at all the other people in the town surrounding the gate. Once she hit the ground, she looked around the group of soldiers. There seemed to be at least 700 people there.

It didn't take her long to find Seje, Sera, Victor, Mylius, and Maxine. The group was soon after joined by Kayla and Mikey. Minutes passed without a word said between anyone, just standing, listening. Finally, Victor piped up, "Maybe we should tell what happened to each of us out there."

"Not such a bad idea," Seje said, "I'll start." He gulped and began talking, "Lauri, Maxine, Dan, Bryan, Shade, and I ran into titans within minutes of going out into the city. We split into groups of three. Dan, and Bryan died, and Maxine got grabbed. But, I saved her... when we were signaled to retreat, a jumping titan attacked Shade and I. Shade didn't make it."

Sera sighed, "Yeah, a few titans attacked my squad. We lost Mackenzie, Olivia, and Franz. Mikey flew off to the vanguard, then Hannah got stepped on."

Kayla perked up, "No one from my squad died, we had Garrison members in my squad. Since, we were so close to HQ."

Victor responded, "Me too, although, we did lose the Garrison member in my squad."

Mylius looked off into the distance before beginning to speak, "It was a minute before we encountered titans. They killed Thomas and Nac first. Then They attacked Eren, Mina, and I. Armin was with Eren, and I saved Mina. I flew off to get help, and when i got back Armin was spaced out and Eren was gone."

Everyone stopped for a moment to take in the fact that their friends were dead. Suddenly, an explosion rattled the ground, knocking everyone off their feet. Lauri looked up at smoke that was rising from the wall, by the canal.

"Was it a cannon?" asked Seje.

"Probably, and look Jean, Reiner, and a few others are going to check it out," Lauri replied.

Hours seemed to pass before anything happened. Everyone was just waiting, talking, crying. After about an hour of sheer boredom, there was a scream for attention from the top of the walls. There stood Dot Pyxis, one of the highest ranking commanders of the Garrison in the south. Mylius gasped
when he noticed that Eren was standing next to him.

Dot Pyxis explained the plan made to reclaim Trost. It would involve people going out and protecting Eren from titans. Eren would transform into a titan and plug the hole in the wall. The Cadets and Soldiers not in Trost, would standby on a corner of the wall to lure titans.

Pyxis took a slip of paper from Armin and began reading names off. "The Cadets and Soldiers heading into Trost will be," everyone spaced out not expecting their name to be called. But, they snapped back to reality once Seje and Sera were called.

The plan began to be put into action. Seje and Sera headed for the group of people going into Trost to get squad assignments. Lauri and Mylius walked together toward the wall.

"I can't believe that Eren is a titan," Lauri said.

"Nor can I, but it makes sense," Mylius replied.

"What?"

"Well, it explains why Eren was gone, but Armin and Mina were not."

"Can you explain that to me?"

"Eren probably got eaten and accidentally transformed, or on purpose, but I doubt he knew. Anyway, that probably killed the titan that ate him, so it couldn't eat Armin or Mina."

"Yeah, funny Mr. Kill All Titans is a titan."

Mylius laughed and looked up toward the top of the wall.

"Ready for battle?"
