Marco added a piece of wood into the fire and took a seat next to Jean. The room suddenly got much warmer. Marco smiled, despite all the recent events he hadn't stopped smiling once since they were sent out of Trost and back to the Trainee Camp. "So, what branches are you all thinking of joining?" He asked.

Jean spoke first, "I'm going to join the Military Police, at last I can finally do it..."

Kayla trailed on after him, "I'm going to join the Scouting Legion. I don't want to break any promises."

"What?!" Jean asked, "Why?!"

Lauri answered, "Kayla, Seje, and I, we were in Gabashin when it was breached. It was so scary. We made a promise to join the Military and fight back so no one would ever experience what we did that day."

Seje spoke this time, "Which is why, I'm joining the Scouting Legion as well."

Jean gasped, "You're all crazy as Eren and," he paused, "Mikasa..."

"Jean!" Marco scolded.

There was quite a silence before Annie, another Cadet, decided to speak. "I agree with Jean," she said, "You three are completely insane for wanting to go outside those walls, I suggest you save your own skin." At her comment, Bertholdt, a tall boy next to her, looked down at his shoes and began to sweat profusely.

Mina stood up, wobbling slightly as her back was still bruised. "I'm going now, I think it's time for bed for me."

"Wait, Mina," Annie said, "Which Branch are you thinking of joining?"

Mina walked a bit quicker, "The Scouting Legion."

Mylius stood up aghast, "What Mina?! After you almost died and have another chance at living, you are going to join the Scouting Legion?"

Mina spun on her heels and looked Mylius dead in the eye, "Mylius I thank you for saving me, but that is the exact reason I am going to the Scouting Legion, I had another chance. I'm not gonna waste it behind these barren walls." Mina turned toward the hallway and walked off toward her room.

Marco spoke up, "I agree with her. I don't know why, but I feel as if I have another chance at life now. I could've died in Trost, but I didn't."

Jean laughed, "You're all a freak show." Marco smacked him upside the head.

"Hey!" Jean retorted, and turned to Connie. "So what's it for you?"

Connie said, "Well before Marco and Mina's little speech, it was the MP's but," Connie continued, "I think now I have to go into the Scouting Legion. Who wants to waste their life on nothing?"

Sasha nodded to his right in agreement, Her brunette ponytail bouncing as she shook her head, "I would really like to become a decent person, and going into the MP's isn't gonna help that one bit."

Mylius left the room now, shaken by everyone's decision to join the Scouting Legion.

Ymir laughed as he left, "Well Krista and I were gonna join the Scouting Legion LONG before any of you decided you want in on the Titan fest."

Jean tipped his head back against a chair he was sitting below, his hair making a zipping noise against the fabric. He groaned, "So all of you are out of your damn minds, then?" His voice cracked.

"Not me," Annie said, she got up and left followed by Bertholdt.

"I'm quite tired, I'm leaving," Ymir said. She helped Krista up and they walked off to their room.

Jean pulled his head out of his hands, his eyes were filled with tears. He shook as he muttered the words but nonetheless he said it, "I- I- I-'m joining the Scouting Legion."
