Clean Castle

Kayla's wrist ached as she rubbed the window clean. It felt like hours since she had started on this room. Since Trost was sealed off, the Castle nearby there had no use for the Scouting Legion anymore. So they had moved to the Castle in the East Side of Wall Rose.

Luckily for the Scouting Legion, the Elite Squad had managed to clean up a lot of the Castle first. But it wasn't enough.

Kayla looked around the room. On the wall farthest from her, there was a dark wooden door, with a rounded handle and golden hinges. On the two walls on her left and right there were bookshelves set in rows across the walls.

Kayla looked at the old desk in the middle of the room, only a lamp and two chairs on both sides remained. She turned back towards the wall with the window and began getting the moss out from in between the slick, grey, cool cobblestones.

She still had to get the dust out from the bookshelves, sweep the floor, and clean the desk off before she could meet her Squad. Alone it would take hours, even one other set of hands could help. Suddenly she heard the door creak open and close right behind her.

She looked back in surprise. Standing before her was the famous Captain Levi! "Oh Captain Levi, sir, may I help you?" She asked nervously.

"No, I am here to help you, although you seem to be doing a pretty good job."

The short man walked over to the bookshelves and began dusting the bottom three shelves. His black hair bounced as he strained to reach the fourth and top shelf.

Kayla giggled at his efforts and went back to getting the moss out of the stones. It was awhile before anyone said anything. Kayla had already finished with the stones by the time Levi spoke.

"So how did you know my name?" He asked.

"Everyone knows your name, you're legendary! Humanity's savior!" She exclaimed.

"Oh is that so?" Levi asked plainly.

Kayla nodded. She had been telling the full truth. Levi was known as Humanity's best soldier. He had countless titan kills. He also controlled the Elite Squad, and had been in the Scouting Legion for over five years.

Levi spoke again. "Never get famous, kiddo," he said.

"Why?" Kayla asked, walking over to the desk.

"Because you can never get out of the spotlight no matter how much you wish."

"Well maybe they'll move on?"

"What makes you think that?"

"Mikasa Ackerman, a girl I graduated with, is amazing! She got first place in ranking and was put on the Elite Squad during Trost. She lead us to the HQ when we were stuck, and helped us once we were in the HQ by leading Eren's titan over."

"Mikasa Ackerman? I'll take note of that."

It wasn't long before they had finished cleaning and Kayla had changed into her normal clothes. She couldn't wait to meet her team. Kayla walked down a few hallways and into a room titled Library 2.

She closed the double doors quietly behind her and looked around the room. Kayla saw 7 other people in the room, she was on one of the smaller teams. She walked forward, quite scared and nervous. "Hello," she said once she had reached them. They all looked at her blankly.

Kayla felt one emotion, fear. All she could think was, AWKARD SITUATION ABORT ABORT AHH HH H H H. Luckily a man of about 18 or 19 jumped up and greeted her. "Hi," he said, "My name is Russ."

"Nice to meet you," Kayla replied. She surveyed him. He was well-built, had mahogany brown eyes, and almost white hair.

"I'm the Team Leader," he continued, "You're one of two trainees on this Team, the other hasn't arrived yet."

"Oh," Kayla replied, "I hope I know them."

"Well," Russ said, "For now let's introduce you to the Team."

Kayla nodded in agreement. Just before Russ began. Someone came sprinting in. "Sorry I'm late!" the blonde said, "Cleaning, you know."

"It's okay," Russ said, "We were just about to start introductions. I'm Russ, this is Kayla. And you are?"

"Artia," the girl replied, "I'm Artia Rayce."

"Right well," Russ said, gesturing at the Team members, "These guys are Hago, Quinn, Cill, and Jarecko."

Each of them waved as he said their name. He then moved on to the girls.

"This is Eileen and Lynda."

They smiled and waved.

Russ turned back towards Artia and Kayla. "Any questions?" He asked. The girls shook their heads and took a seat at the table, ready to meet their Team.
